Students’ Union University of Greenwich Job Description Student Marketing & Events Assistant Responsible to: Commercial Services Department Reporting to: Supervisor or the senior member of staff on duty Salary: £6.19 per hour paid weekly plus 52p per hour holiday pay to be paid termly Hours of Work: Up to 16 hours a week on a flexible rota according to the needs of the organization Primary Place of work: Staff are employed to work principally at either the Avery Hill Campus or Greenwich Maritime Campus. It may be necessary, however, to work at an alternative campus on occasion. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Description of Duties To assist with the promotion and execution of all SUUG events, activities and campaigns Promotions support Promote SUUG activities on behalf of commercial and membership services departments. Collect and distribute marketing promotional materials to Schools/departments/halls of residence across the University. Distribute leaflets to students and encourage them to attend our events and/or use our services. Maintain our poster boards. Collect marketing data and conduct market research as and when required. Provide feedback to relevant departments following on-duty communications with student market. Occasionally distribute marketing material to local businesses. Perform basic office duties – photocopying, laminating and cutting. Events support Occasionally sell tickets to students. Give support and assistance to key SUUG events/campaigns (e.g. elections, Freshers/Refreshers, All student meetings and commercial events). Help prepare rooms for events where necessary (e.g. arrange furniture, set-up and close-down). Assist with venue entry conditions where appropriate (e.g. fees, tickets, ID checks, distributing leaflets). Web & creative support: Assist in maintaining SUUG events website material and links, social media and occasionally uploading images to the website photo gallery. Job Summary Knowledgeable and/or willing to learn about the activities, services, events and campaigns that you are promoting. Confident, upbeat, enthusiastic personality with great communication skills, happy to talk to students to promote SU in a positive light Sometimes work outside (leafleting, ticket selling and research). Clear leaflet distribution or drop areas of those discarded at the end of each promotional session and use recycling methods (including for disposal). Report any suspected unauthorized marketing material distributed on SUUG premises and remove as instructed. To uphold the aims and objectives of SUUG and ensure these are reflected in your work and behavior. Uphold SUUG Health and Safety Polices. Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested during working hours.
