I saw them looking back in their book to look up each question and answer. I am so proud of their hard work and dedication to improvement. On Thursday of this week we will begin chapter 5. The students will be taking a pretest on this material but please join me in encouraging them that it is NOT for a grade. It is only to see how much they’ve learned compared to after we finish discussing this material. This week we will begin lesson 1 in chapter 5 which discusses the transportation and tourism advances in Florida after the Civil War. Volunteers: Calling all parents who think they may want to join us on a field trip! You must fill out paper work online unless you have done it within a three year period. All volunteers must be finger printed. Please don’t wait to the last minute to sign up. MATHEMATICS We will take our first assessment on skills taught in Topic 9 on Tuesday. We will continue to add and subtract fractions and will be introducing line plots and multiplying fractions by whole numbers. Your child should be bringing home the Math Journal nightly to refer to when completing homework. A large portion of our instruction will be done through math journaling and practice in class. We will only use the Math text book as a tool when needed. SCIENCE: This week we will be continuing with Chapter 3 in Science. The topic is Rocks and Minerals. Very interesting chapter.
