Commission Model w/ Jerry Roth Discussion – All
 Kadee led a discussion where we went around the room and documented our thoughts against the following
headings:
i. Barriers / Obstacles
ii. Questions
iii. Programs the Support the Structure
iv. Overall Impressions & Thoughts
 The discussion was captured in the following images below.
 Overall the team agreed we were excited to move forward with the Commission Model / Structure discussion,
and agreed to enlist the help of Jerry Roth to lead the effort. Specific questions addressed were:
i. Do we want to move ahead? YES
ii. What is our desired timline?
1. Do we move quickly (if so, do we as council pick members and chairs of commissions)?
2. Do we move slowly (if so, do we have a discernment process to pick members and chairs)?
We decided we wanted to move forward quickly, but that we’d defer to the process led by
Jerry Roth to address the questions of who’s chairing the commissions.
iii. Do we want to use a consultant to lead? If so, is it Jerry Roth? Yes, team expressed confidence in
Jerry’s ability to lead us through the process.
iv. Does the whole council take this on, or will it be a subset of the council that works with a consultant?
Group discussed having a large group first, then breaking up. Fr. Tim suggested we have a small
group first, then come to the council w/ reporting. Need to define who has decision-making
authority (large group or small group). Group decided that small group recommends, parish
council approves/decides.
v. Agreed to move forward with large group first, and agreed to have a Tuesday meeting in January
outside the regular PPC meeting.
vi. Goal is implement in the fall. Groups in place in the summer.
vii. Want to have Jerry explain this to staff separately. Bring feedback from staff to the PPC.
viii. Discussion on communication is paramount.

Updates / What’s Going On? - Fr. Tim and Karen Maza
Karen updated us on the changes in sanctuary lighting. Banners are up and are blocking some of the lights. Karen
discussed some of the difficulties in getting the lights done. Took 2 guys 12 hours with the lift. Changed all bulbs in
sanctuary.
Sunday mass music director (Steven) has taken another job in Australia. Ryan is being offered a contract as the
replacement.

 Due to limited time, we didn’t get to reviewing the action items from the previous meeting.
Next meeting is scheduled for January 17, 2011.
