“Journey to the Center of the Earth”
Objective: Students will demonstrate their understanding of the following
vocabulary that relates to Earth’s interior that we have been studying in
class.
Vocabulary used in project:

Option #1: Creative Story (22 points total)
You can write a four-paragraph story telling about a journey to the center of the Earth. Place
a three-line heading at the top of your paper with a creative title. Within each paragraph you
must describe the six vocabulary words based on the information learned in class. Paper
should be typed, double space, indented at each paragraph, and must follow proper
mechanical rules.
First paragraph: Introduction of trip/journey (who is traveling, how you are traveling, why
you are traveling)
Second paragraph: Journey passing through crust and mantle, make sure to refer to the
lithosphere and asthenosphere
Third paragraph: journey to outer core and inner core
Fourth paragraph: nice closure to your story, stating why this journey was made and what
was learned
You have learned about the Earth’s interior through readings, labs, demonstrations, and video
clips. Use this knowledge about crust, mantle, and the outer and inner cores in your paper to
make your story factual.
