Early Release Days: LIM Team Staff Meetings
9/23/15
Data Teams
● Benchmark/PM Data - Questions/Thoughts- tori is sending out an email with dates
● Curriculum Map - Questions/Thoughts- will be worked on during PLCs
Testing
● We will not be getting IBD reports from the state this year. Therefore, our only way of
creating “big Rocks” is through last year’s eValuate scores. They are in the PLC room. Should we place them on Google Drive? Sure -Tori will do that
● Testing Schedule on Google Drive.
● RTI - Set up / Questions?- Concerns - End of the day is not the best time of day; double
dipping doesn’t take place; Design schedule based upon the 2 day/2 day with one day of
teacher choice - this would open up extra people for additional assistance; time is a
problem for progress monitoring; its a problem taking one full day to progress monitor
out of the RtI time; can we switch times for RtI
● Go to the 2 day/ 2 day schedule and keep one day for Leader in Me with your
homeroom. So M/T will be ELA and W/TH will be Math (except for 2nd grade that can do
one week ELA and one week Math; Fridays will be LIM)
Families
● Now that we have kiddos in their correct places, what are your thoughts? We will do a
family photo on a Friday somehow so that all kids get in on the fun. Any ideas as to how
we can get Wednesday galactic kids in on the fun if even for a little?
○ The third grade galactic students will always miss families.
○
○
○
●
Switch to a Friday for activities
It’s too early to really gauge
The outcome - what is the sole purpose?! team building yes, but just giving the
students another ‘outlet’ or adult. -- Having the ‘feel’ and idea of family - those
people that hold you accountable.
○ Acknowledge the piece - when a student leaves the family - maybe making a
point to write a letter or have the conversation that they left.
New kids to the school. How do we get them into a family? Process is? Do we then
update the photo?
○ Do more than one family photo throughout the year
○ When a student leaves remove the name but leave the box to see the where a
family has an open space and add the students there
Math Homework
● Fluency practice with data tracking sheet. *First Semester - Is this happening? What
grade-levels?
○ 4th grade is and they are tracking it
○ 3rd grade is also doing this
● One application problem a night. - This was brought up last time. Thoughts?
Computer Labs
● How is the schedule working out? Concerns/questions?
○ DeMars - has made or has an idea about a google calendar and how you can
make a specific appointment.
Early Release Days - Schedule and Focus
● Are we doing PBIS lessons?
● Are we doing Leader In me lessons and are we using the student workbooks?
○ Suggestion was that we add a “behavior day” or “leader in me” day during RTI
once a week?! (see above as well)
○
School Store

Next Leader in Me Team Meeting Date: 9/28
● How will this look? Schedule?
○ Tori will work on this - release times and list of students who go where (on google
drive) preparing teachers
○ Tori will create a schedule for students to come down during a time frame or
block.
Should we plan a Leader In Me day on the months without an early release? If so, when?
Dec and May - no early release days so these would be good
Preferably end of the week towards end of day
Fridays will be best
10/28/15
(Melton,Haynes,Sladek,Bond,Grimes,Sippel,Sachs,Borgsmiller, DeMars, Hill)
● PLC’s on Wednesday next week. (Be sure to have the student Maps ready to go
-to be able to review RTI and where each student is at)
● Leader Rally - go over student data binders so kiddos know what areas they
have improved in.
-will be Friday, November 6th
-teachers be sure to review the script sent out by Erik so your students
know what is taking place
● Lighthouse meeting was held this morning:
- in the middle of writing a leader in me mission statement
- stressed in meeting that Leader In Me for Garrett Elementary will have a
primary focus and goal - for students and adults - IS TO KNOW ALL 7 HABITS by
the end of the year
● We still need to raise about 1700 to pay out bill. PDC for the district gave 1500
and we asked for 6000 - we have used all other sources.
○ part was a grant and other part was given from our personal sources
○ they want the money now and we don’t have it.
■ united way turned it down, rotary club maybe
● talk with your team - ideas? are they willing to help? 2 hour time frame?
● Dec. 3rd/4th or 11th/12th
● charging for late pick-ups?!!!
○ charge MORE then give money BACK if they come early or on time.
○ don’t want to provide dinner 6-8
○ charge a 1.00 for pizza.
○ Friday Night/Saturday Morning???
■ offer fri or sat and only have spots.
○ talking with other schools - charge 5 bucks a kid and we watch a kid while
they go shop :)
○ maybe borrow blow ups from community center
○ dollar dress down day/wear a hat day
○ have to be SCHOOL AGE (k-5) and attend Garrett Elementary
○ What if we do a POLAR EXPRESS THEME
■ community center
■ something at Garrett
Money for Dress Down = DEADLINE FRIDAY
20 November and/or 10 December
DRESS LIKE A P.E. TEACHER
Challenge (BY GRADE LEVEL)
