question. Homework: Section 2.1 – 69, 70 Section 2.2 – 5, 8, 13, 17, 22, 28, 29, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41, 55, 57, 59, and 67.
February 4 - Returned quiz. Discussed definition of trig ratios in terms of sides of a triangle. Developed trig ratio values
for familiar angles (0, 30, 45, 60 and 90 degrees). Cofunctions of complementary angles are =. Homework Section 2.1 –
MEMORIZE the values in Table 2 page 60. Memorize the definitions of the trig functions in terms of sides of a triangle.
Problem set 2.1 – 1-4, 7, 10, 14, 17 25 – 31 odd, 35, 40, 45, 47, 49, 51, any problem 53 – 64 (don’t write those) and 65.

February 2 – Returned quiz. Quiz on homework. Discussed using Identities. Homework Section 1.5 – 15, 20, 25, 30, 33,

January 30 – Quiz on homework. Discussed Ratio Identities and then worked sample problems using identities and
definitions. Homework: Memorize the ratio identities. Section 1.4 – 13 – 25 odd, 27, 33, 39, 47, 59 and 61.
January 28 – Students worked a few examples on the board. Discussion included reciprocal identities and Pythagorean
Identities. Homework : Memorize the Reciprocal Identities and Pythagorean Identities from section 1.4 . Exercises in
1.3 – 5, 10, 20, 25, 43 – 49 odd, 51 – 54 all, 55, 60, 65, 70 (pick any point that satisfies the condition and sketch the
triangle needed.) I will be out of my office in the morning.
January 26 – Returned homework. Defined the six trig ratios in terms of x, y, and r (or names of adjacent, opposite and
hypotenuse). Emphasis was placed on the fact that several of the ratios are reciprocals of other ratios. Developed
points on the unit circle associated with 30 and 45 degree angles in all four quadrants. Homework: Memorize the six
trig ratios . (Definition 1 on page 27 or the definition on page 56) Memorize the six trig ratios of a 45 and 30 degree
angle. READ Section 1.3. Section 1.3 -17 and 18.
January 23 – class cancelled
January 21 – Collected the homework. Reviewed the distance formula, rectangular coordinate system, and equations of
circles. A unit circle is a circle with center at the origin and radius of one. Homework: Section 1.2 – 1 – 3, 6-8, 17 – 20,
31, 34, 37, 39, 41, 45, 47, 49, 61, 63, 5, 69 – 76, 77 and 91.
January 16 – Answered homework questions. Homework: Section 1.1 – 32, 33, 34, 45, 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 67, 69.
January 14 – Discussed: kinds of triangles, naming triangles using sides and using angles; Pythagorean Theorem; 30-6090 right triangles; and 45-45-90 right triangles. Homework: Read pages 5-10. KNOW THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN
