Operations are streamlined through an effective inventory system. Best Practice Companies: PepsiCo Famed across the globe most notably for being Coca-Cola’s main competitor. Its success in United States has been replicated in other markets across the globe. PepsiCo has a foothold in all continents. This exemplifies the firm’s extensive involvement in international business. Similarities between Wal-Mart & PepsiCo Both firms have been largely successful in their respective fields. Both companies have an expansive employee base that stretch across the globe. The business strategy for both firms is characterized by a global perspective. Differences between Wal-Mart & PepsiCo They have different approaches towards the implementation of technology. They use employee reward and motivation schemes. Different promotional/marketing strategies. Critique of Best Practices: Wal-Mart Wal-Mart has done incredibly well in rewarding employees. The firm has excellent internal management systems. The company uses innovative technology such as radio frequency identification standards extensively. Critique of Best Practices: PepsiCo The global strategic management framework has various weaknesses. The mechanism for technological integration has not been effective. PepsiCo has not streamlined its framework for human resource systems. Implementing Best Practices The integration of all stakeholders is extremely crucial. The use of the experience curve would be beneficial. A comprehensive cost-benefit analysis framework would enhance implementation. Conclusion The exemplary frameworks for global strategic management have been influential in the success of Wal-Mart and PepsiCo.
