General Information Biome

The taiga is the largest continuous biome in the world. This
biome is located in the northern part of the Northern
Hemisphere and is in North America, Asia, and Europe. It
stretches across Alaska, Canada, Scandinavia, and Russia;
spreading through the Northern Hemisphere. In North America,
there is a type of land called the Canadian Shield. The Canadian
Shield has a surface of rock that blocks water from reaching the
surface, and makes up a large part of the taiga biome.
 The taiga has many interesting types of land. Extreme cold in the
taiga creates a layer of ground called permafrost. Permafrost is
ground that is permanently frozen. Water can't break through this
layer. Most of the taiga is made up of bogs that have a soft carpet
of moss on the forest floor. Many parts of the taiga's land are
more liquid than solid.

Interesting facts
 The Taiga biome is the largest on the planet. It extends across
North America, Asia, and Europe. Filled with coniferous forests,
it usually has summers that are short and wet with winters that
are fairly long and cold because of its northern location. Here are
some important facts to know about the Taiga that you may not

 There are not a lot of animals that call the Taiga home. Those
that do tend to either hibernate during the cold winters or
migrate toward warmer temperatures. This means that there are
lots and lots of insects always buzzing around. Migrating birds,
however, do help to take care of some of these bugs during the
warmer months.
