The Taiga is located across North America, Europe, Asia to the
south Antarctic. I think this is a cool biome in the location
area, because it stretches across the northern area of the
world. It covers a very large amount of the North Arctic.
In the Taiga the weather is very unusual. The
Taiga has very long, cold winters. The summers
in the Taiga are short and mild and wet. It
would be quite strange to people who do not
live there.
The plants that grow in the Taiga are amazing in many ways. The plants
that can be found in this area are mostly conifers (such as balsam fir,
black spruce and Douglas- fir) but also include oak, birch, willow and
alder.
The animals that live in the Taiga all must have fur
and other coverings to keep warm in the cold. The
big animals in the Taiga are wolves, elk, bears and
many others. The lower class animals are mole,
hare, many insects, ermine and birds.
The Places and People
The animals, weather and location aren’t the most exciting
parts about the Taiga. The people and places are where it’s
at. The major cities in the Taiga are Moscow (the capital of
Russia) and Toronto (which is in Canada). A common job in
the Taiga is logging because of the many forests in the
biome.
The Taiga is important in fantastic ways. The great amount of trees
removes most of the carbon dioxide. Also it filters millions of water
a year for our water bottles.
The Taiga is unique in many different ways. It is a place were
birds migrate there every year. Half the year it is below freezing.
Finally the most amazing thing is that it is largest biome in the
world!
