Chapter Eleven Objectives:
Section 1: Parts of a Circle
Learn to identify and use parts of circles.
Vocabulary: circle, center, radius, chord, diameter, and concentric.
Section 2: Arcs and Central Angles
Learn to identify major arcs, minor arcs, and semicircles and measures of arcs and central
angles.
Vocabulary: exterior angle, arcs, minor arc, major arc, semicircle, and adjacent arcs.
Section 3: Arcs and Chords
Learn to identify and use the relationships among arcs, chords, and diameters.
Vocabulary: No new terms.
Section 4: Inscribed Polygons
Learn to inscribe regular polygons in circles and explore the relationship between the length of a
chord and its distance from the center of the circle.
Vocabulary: circumscribed and inscribed.
Section 5: Circumference of a Circle
Learn to solve problems involving circumferences of circles.
Vocabulary: No new terms.
Section 6: Area of a Circle
Learn to solve problems involving areas and sections of circles.
Vocabulary: sector, experimental probability, and theoretical probability.
