Overview
Materials
This is a survey course of world history beginning with ancient civilizations and moving through
modern history. Units are covered thematically to provide students context to understand the
development of societies over time. Topics of study are selected to enhance students’
understanding of the development of the western world, and their place in the world as a whole.





Evaluation/Assessment
Students are evaluated on both their work ethic and mastery of course material through a
combination of classwork, homework, tests and quizzes according to the following schedule:

A = 90 – 100
B = 80 – 89
C = 70 – 79
F = below 70

Make-up Work: All students are able to complete make-up work for excused absences. It is the
student’s responsibility to request missed work if absent from class for any reason.
Discipline Procedures: All students are required to follow school rules. We have a lot of material
to cover in a short amount of time and very little time for behavioral interruptions. Be sure to
follow all policies and procedures listed in the student handbook.
