Grandpeoples Day Friday is the day! Please be sure to send your child dressed in 50s attire for our performance. Showtime is from 1:30-2:15 in the Cartee Gym. Students will return to our room with our class, families will meet us there. On last request, please notify us when you take your child…this is a tremendous help to teachers when trying to keep up with kiddos. Cooler weather…warmer weather So, it looks like we are in the midst of a typical fall in Tallahassee, cold morningswarn afternoons. Obviously, this spells disaster for outer wear that is shed midway through the day. Please LABEL YOUR CHILD’S OUTER WEAR, to help in the search for those often misplaced garments. To that end, LOST and FOUND is located in the bathroom hall of the Dining Hall. If a sweatshirt goes missing during PE, then check the track, the Cartee Gym, or the Webster Center as possible locations. We are now spending our outside break on the Lower School playground, so that is another place to search. FAUCET WOW! That is about all that I can come up with in regards to how much candy was collected after Halloween. We received an almost full paper grocery bag from each class in Lower School. Thank you so very much for sharing your treats, I am certain that they will be appreciated. In honor of Veterans Day, a speaker has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 12. His name is Captain Cray Coppins. He was a Corporal in the Marine Corps and then became a Captain in the Navy JAG Corps. We look forward to hearing what he has to share. Auction Basket Darice Richard has taken on the challenge of collecting items for our class auction basket, apparently she enjoys a challenge! The Oberste family sent in a board game and there is a collection jar on my desk-thank you to all have contributed. Buddies We haven’t seen our PreK Three buddies in some time, not since making shakers and learning cheers for Homecoming, but we will meet up next week. If the weather permits we will head out for a nature walk on campus together next Tuesday. Ask your child about their buddy, some sweet bonds are being made. iPad Updates Please make time over the weekend to ensure that all updates have been performed on your child’s iPad. Math Unit Three is wrapping up, so there will be an assessment given in the upcoming week. We will again complete several reviews that will serve as great study guides to this unit on math sentences, multiplication facts, solving for a variable, and word stories. Reading In Reading this week, the students have been working on creating presentations about owls on the app, Book Creator. They have each researched many facts about owls, and will use this information to complete their presentations. They are having a wonderful time doing this on their I-pads, and in finding funny and cute pictures of owls to use. I can't wait to see them presented in class. Next week, we will begin to read the novel, The Talking Earth. Social Studies This past week looked at the role of archaeology in our understanding of the past. After watching a few videos from the Florida Public Archaeology Network, the students worked in pairs on their iPads to put their new knowledge in action. In the week ahead, we will look at Florida in its earliest, prehistoric days. Science: I can hardly believe that Halloween is over and we are already into November! The days are flying by and you sweet children are so busy learning and loving science. We are currently studying animal life cycles and will have a quiz this Thursday 11/6. After that, we have only one more chapter to study in this unit. Next week, we will focus on parents and their offspring. It promises to be very entertaining as well as educational! Grammar We are taking our study of singular and plural nouns up a notch to a look at irregular plural nouns. As we all know some of these can be a bit tricky when just starting out. Please encourage your child to use their grammar workbook for assistance.
