AISD subscription online resources information you can rely on What are databases? • Databases are online subscription services that pull information from many sources. • Because it is a subscription, databases are not free • Some databases have information from past and present magazines, journals, and newspapers. • Information contained in databases from online journals are written by experts in the field and reviewed by their peers. • Articles in databases from newspapers and magazines are the same as those in the print versions. Why use databases instead of the Web? • Information in many databases has been reviewed and considered accurate. • Information from websites needs to be evaluated by the user. • While there are many great resources on the web, information in databases is considered more reliable which makes conducting research faster and more efficient.
