campus students must schedule a time to take your exams well in advance with their respective
testing centers. Space is limited so if you don’t schedule a test date and time with your testing
center well in advance, there is possibility that you’ll miss the exam. Consider scheduling early!
There are no walk-ins. If you have any scheduling issues, you must contact your respective
testing center.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS AND SOFTWARE:
1. Operations Management; Sustainability and Supply Chain Management with MyOMLab, 1/e,
2014, by Jay Heizer and Barry Render, Pearson: ISBN: 1269617958 (loose-leaf, three hole
punch version-UCF custom edition). The e-book and hardcover 11th/ed are also
acceptable. MyOMLab is required, the CD is not.
**Please see additional textbook information, MyOMLab registration/signup and directions to
access the e-book on Webcourses Modules Page. You'll find other options for text pricing
including e-book and used textbook options.
CLASS COMMUNICATIONS:
Email: Email me and our TAs using only the email tool in Webcourses. This ensures that we
will get your email and it will not end up as junk mail or flagged as spam.
***It is very, very, very important that you follow the procedure below to send email. Pay
particular attention to items 4, 5 and 6. You must check both of these boxes or you run the risk
of not getting a reply to your email***
1. Choose Inbox in the upper right-hand corner of the screen when you log into Webcourses.
2. Choose New Message icon (a pencil in a gray box) to open a new message.
3. Choose our class from the drop down menu and then click on the "head" icon in the To field.
4. Select "All in Teachers" and select "All in Teaching Assistants" in the To field.
5. Type your message in the Message window and indicate whether you are a regional or main
campus student. (Do not forget to attach or type your work if you need help with homework
problems)
6. Do not check the box next to "Send individual messages."
7. Choose Send.
Discussion Boards: I would encourage you to use the discussion board on Webcourses to ask
your fellow classmates questions. Discussion boards will be included in each module on the
modules page. Many times your classmates will have the answers to your questions. They are a
great resource. You may find that you will find answers to your questions already posted on the
discussion board, plus your question will help others who have the same one.
Please do not use the discussion board as your personal sounding board. We don't care to hear
your gripes. Ask questions and provide answers to posted questions, but leave the rest off of the
discussion board. If your behavior warrants, you may be removed from further access to the
discussion boards and our class on Webcourses.
Three before me rule: The syllabus and FAQs posted at the end of the syllabus, and the class
discussion board will answer more than 95% of the questions we typically receive. Before
emailing us with your question, I ask that you first make an attempt to find the answer on your
own by eliciting help from three references or sources. If you have not watched the
corresponding videos, or read the syllabus, or read the announcements, you should first check
these sources before sending an email or discussion post.
If you are still stuck and need help, by all means contact us via email or come by our offices
during office hours. I kindly ask that you provide the three sources when emailing your
question.
When you email a question regarding the class content, especially the quantitative work, you
must send your work along with your email. If you do not send your work to us first our next
response to you will be, 'please send your work'.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Exams: Main Campus students must take all exams in the Orlando main campus testing
center BA2-First Floor-Room 104. Regional campus students must take all of the exams at
their respective regional campus testing centers. Main campus testing center rules/policy/test
dates and seat availability can be viewed at http://www.bus.ucf.edu/testingcenter. Select Student
from the left hand column for more information.
Students must provide a valid UCF student ID to be admitted into the Testing Center. You will
be allowed to use a basic or business calculator-don’t forget to bring one with you to every
exam. Absolutely no programmable or graphing calculators will be allowed in the testing
centers. You’ll need to bring your own formulas to the exam. You’ll be allowed to bring a 3x5
index card (front and back) to the exam for notes and/or formulas, whatever you think you’ll
need. If we covered it in class, it is fair game for the exam. You'll need to review lectures,
slides, text and homework. Exam scores will be released the day after the close of each exam.
Regional Campus Testing Lab Hours
Check the website or call your respective regional testing center. Each has its own schedule.
For more information for regional campus testing, go to
http://www.bus.ucf.edu/testingcenter. Select Student from the left hand column, then select
Regional Campus Help.
Regional campus students still need to follow the same policies, dates and times for the exams as
the Orlando Main Campus except for the following difference: you must schedule your exam
well in advance with your respective testing center and you must complete the exam within the
date and time range stated in the test schedule table below. The testing center availability to take
the exams is dictated by the personnel at your respective regional campuses. It is imperative that
you coordinate taking your exam with the test center personnel.
Make-up exam policy: You cannot make up the final exam. If you missed an exam because of
an officially sanctioned university activity (e.g. band, debate, student government, intercollegiate
athletics, etc.), personal religious obligation or a medical emergency with documentation from a
medical provider then you can make up the missed exam prior to the missed exam schedule
below. To request making up the exam early, a student must provide me a written request for an
and verifiable documentation of the anticipated absence in advance of the close of the exam.
If you miss an exam for any other reason, you can make up one missed exam from the first three
exams-no questions asked. The missed exam can be made up during the date and time listed in
the exam schedule below for missed exams. You do not need to contact me or our TAs. Main
campus students, just show up at your testing facility, regional students will need to schedule an
appointment with their respective testing facility.
If you missed an exam other than due to an officially sanctioned university activity (e.g. band,
debate, student government, intercollegiate athletics, etc.), personal religious obligation or a
medical emergency with documentation from a medical provider and intend to make up the exam
later, you are not entitled to any curve or grade adjustment given to the students who took the
exam when originally scheduled.
Test Times and Dates: The exams must be completed and submitted no later than the end date
and time stated in the table below and you must be finished with the Exam by the closing time of
the testing center. You’ll have 75 minutes to complete exams 1, 2 and 3. The final is 120
minutes.

Exam and Homework Review: If you’d like to review your exams, main campus students just
show up during office hours. Regional students, please email Teachers and TAs and select
“This is a group Conversation” using Webcourses to coordinate the review.
2. Homework assignments: Ten Homework assignments are completed through
MyOMLab. You can access MyOMLAb through Webcourses (Click the link in the left hand
column--Homework).
For any technical problems with MyOMLab do not contact me or the TAs. You must contact
Pearson's MyOMLab help desk first. They can be reached at myomlabhelp@gmail.com or by
phone (UCF Line 1-855-875-1797) or (National Line 1-800-677-6337). You will be required to
provide the following information:
1. Full name
3. Email address
4. MyOMLab username
5. MyOMLab password
6. Detailed description of the issue you have
If you are emailing me after you have contacted the MyOMLab help desk, include your technical
help reference number given to you by the Pearson help desk, otherwise, I cannot help you.
If you have general questions, there is a MyOMLab student user guide that is extremely helpful
and will provide answers to most of these questions: http://www.myomlab.com/tours/userguides (scroll down for student user guide)
The due dates for the assignments can be found in the course schedule below, on Webcourses
Assignment and Homework pages. There is no time limit to complete the assignment once you
start, they just have to be submitted before the due date and time. You have two chances to
complete each assignment in case your first attempt or second attempt is not submitted correctly
for any reason. You are not entitled to two chances though. If you are attempting two chances
and MyOMLab or your computer/internet fails or you goofed up in some way and you have
already submitted an attempt, please do not contact us for another attempt. You are entitled to
one good opportunity to complete the assignment. Late assignments won’t be accepted. You’ll
receive the highest score of your two attempts.
3. Write-Ups/Peer Evaluations: There are two write-ups and two peer evaluations of another
student’s work. You must submit a write-up to be assigned a peer evaluation. You must submit
your write-up and peer evaluation in Webcourses under the Assignment tab. The write-up is
submitted under the assignment "Write-up 1" and "Write-up 2"
For these two peer evaluations, I have provided a rubric for you to use. It is located in the
modules tab. You will upload the rubric document in .doc or .docx formats only, with your
evaluation in two places in Webcourses. Once place is for the the peer evaluation assignment to
be graded (Wecourses assignments "Peer Eval 1" and "Peer Eval 2") and the other place is for
the the person you are reviewing to see your comments (Go to Assignments--Past Assignments,
then select Write-up 1 or Write 2 as appropriate and find the assigned paper in the right hand
column--upload and submit your completed rubric). Do not use “audio” or use the “leave
comment box”. You must leave meaningful comments in your peer review to earn all
points. "Good job" is not enough.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance and participation in class activities are considered
integral parts of a university education. Attendance will not be part of your final grade; however
attending class is highly encouraged.
DISABILITY STATEMENTS: If you need accommodations in this course because of
disability, if you have emergency medical information to share with me, or if you need special
arrangements in case the building must be evacuated, please make me aware of this as soon as
possible.
ACADEMIC HONESTY: All work in this course must be completed in a manner consistent
with UCF Policy. Many incidents of plagiarism result from students’ lack of understanding about
what constitutes plagiarism. yYu are expected to familiarize yourself with UCF’s policy on
plagiarism. All work you submit must be your own scholarly and creative efforts. Academic
dishonesty can result in a lower grade and/or a failing grade for the course. UCF’s Golden Rule
defines plagiarism as follows: “whereby another's work is used or appropriated without any
indication of the source, thereby attempting to convey the impression that such work is the
student’s own.”

grity/PlagiarismStatement.php)
My expectations regarding academic honesty and testing:
1. Since the exams are open for more than one day, if you tip-off, give clues or state what to
watch out for about any part of the exam to your classmates, you can expect to receive a zero for
your exam.
GRADING: Your performance in this course will be evaluated based on your cumulative
achievement, as indicated in the tables below. Check the class schedule below for all due
dates. It is your responsibility to check every grade for accuracy once it is posted online in your
Grades tab on Webcourses. Once the final exam closes, the class is over. There will not be any
additional grade conversations, extra credit or assignments to better your grade, we won’t
negotiate to give you a grade you didn’t earn and we will not check to see if your grades are
correct at this point. You will have one week from when each of your homework and exam
grades are posted to inquire about any inaccuracies regarding your grade.

Library, MyOMLab or Via Response, please contact the respective help desks for
assistance. Contact information is located on the Modules page in Webcourses.
CLASS ETIQUETTE: Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner which is
conducive to learning. Inappropriate behavior is a distraction and shows a lack of respect for
your classmates and your instructor. Please refrain from making rude, offensive, or disrespectful
remarks either in class, via email or on discussion boards. In addition using laptops, cell phones,
tablets or other electronic devices for non-class related uses is extremely rude and
disrespectful. Excuse yourself from the classroom if you cannot abide by these simple
guidelines.
CLASS SCHEDULE: Schedule changes may occur due to the pace and other circumstances of
the class. I will give as much advance notice as possible if changes are made to the schedule.
