Rationale for change(s): Provide a justification for the change as it relates to the entire program and briefly summarize the nature of each requested change. Provide direct, indirect and/or supporting evidence as it relates to the program learning outcomes, potential impact on students, and the time to graduation. There has been an increased interest in the MA in Elementary Education: Early Childhood program from potential graduate students who teach or are interested in teaching preschool or who work with young children. Unfortunately these potential students are not eligible for admission to the program because of the teaching certificate admission requirement. While a teaching certificate would be helpful to these students in the program it is no longer required and should be removed. Also, the Early Childhood Option is being removed from the MA in Elementary Education and renamed “MA in Early Childhood Education” to more accurately reflect the content of the program. 4.
