WRITTEN TEST, ECE TEACHER – EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
The following selection tool will assess written communication skills, as well as the knowledge
and skills required to perform the job of Teacher, Early Childhood Education.
PART 1:
Process Panel:
You can answer this scenario based upon either Billy a boy 2.10 yrs of age or girl Mary 3.8
years of age:
They are an only child and his/her parents are from Africa and speak French at home, but
understand basic English Billy/Mary began at the Centre 3 months ago and they are
showing signs of aggressive behaviour. His/her parents say he/she no longer listens to
them and they are very frustrated.
Your task is to develop a process panel, included in the process panel will be the following:
1. Identify 1 Root Skill you will support and 2 Indicators of the skill.
2. Describe what activities you would set up in which area(s) and define why you made
these decisions.
3. Describe what actions of the child you would capture in photo’s and why (minimum of 5
photo’s)
4. Explain how would you relay this information to the parents and identify which 3 key
experiences you would want to ensure the parents were made aware of.
PART 2:
Occupational Standards:
For each of the statements below, please provide three concrete examples of specific
interactions and/or actions that you have undertaken in the past year that describe how you
have exemplified the following Standards in your work here at __________.
