Quarter Exam: October 2 (A study guide will be given out this Thursday). Student Holiday: October 5 (Monday) Hi! I’m Ms. Askins, and I am your child’s social studies teacher. I have been teaching at LMS since January 2008 I graduated from UGA (Go Dawgs!) and I am originally from Nashville, TN Warm- Ups Every day we have a warm up. It is written on the board. The students complete the warm up and then we discuss it. Class Notes All notes come from power points. I made them myself and our assessments are made from those notes. Make up or re-do work A student can re do any assignment for the whole quarter, for ½ credit. All assignments must be turned in at the beginning of the last week of the quarter. What do we learn in Social Studies? We study the Middle East, Asia and Africa. For each region, we study: - Physical geography - Culture - History - Government - Economics What will the Milestone cover? Geography: 20% History: 30% Government: 30% Economics: 20% Typically, no homework in Social Studies except to study for tests or finish in class assignments. PLEASE read for 20 minutes every night! A good reader does well in all classes! Make all corrections on a separate sheet of notebook paper. Number the problems as they were numbered on the test/quiz. You must convince me that you understand the problem by explaining your mistake or why you missed the problem and what you should have done to get the correct answer. You must also show all work. Circle your corrected answer. Corrections are always due at the end of the week. If you convince me that you understand the problem, I will give you ½ credit added back for each question that you answer correctly.
