male reproductive grains that contain sperm
movement of pollen from stamen to pistil
flowers usually have stamens taller than the postal so pollen can fall down on postal
leaf-like parts of the flower, they protect the bud

to complete the following tasks.
a. Parts of a Flower, Video 1
i. As the parts of the flower
are described, fill out this
diagram of a flower by
pasting into a program of
your choice (Word or
PowerPoint). You will
email the completed
diagram to
sarah.hicks@murray.k12.
ga.us. You will add to this
document in step C so
leave room for some
typing on the page.
b. Pollination, Fruit v Vegetable, Video 2
i. Understand how pollination occurs as it is described. Using ALL underlined
vocabulary words above choose from the following options a or b and email the
completed assignment to sarah.hicks@murray.k12.ga.us.
Option A. Create a flow chart that begins with the pollen moving and
ends with fertilization of the ovule. Use this link,
https://creately.com/app/?tempID=gc7qvpsj1&login_type=demo#plan.
You do not need to register with Creately to create a flow chart. When
done, paste a screen shot into an email by pressing Ctlr and PrtScn at the same
time (which copies the current screen) and pasting it as usual into the email.
Option B. Use Microsoft Word or PowerPoint to create your flow chart.
Use arrows or numbers to indicate sequence of events.
c. Ovule to Fruit, Video 3
i. Review how plants reproduce before answering the following questions in
complete sentences below your diagram of a flower from step A.
1. Why do the flower’s petals die and fall off the plant after fertilization?
2. What is the main difference between a fruit and a vegetable?
3. Use Quizlet to test your knowledge. Using this link, http://quizlet.com/76932100/flashcards,
practice your understanding of the vocabulary words listed above. When you feel confident in
their meanings, use this link, http://quizlet.com/76932100/test, to take a test over the terms.
When done, make sure your score is shown on the screen, press Ctlr and PrtScn at the same
time to copy the screen shot, then paste it into an email and send to
sarah.hicks@murray.k12.ga.us.
