Sample Soft Skill Resume
Name: Persistency Smith
Address:
1 Schoolwork and Fitness Avenue, Personal and Professional Life, Missouri 64037
Objective: I am a strong force that helps individuals fight through obstacles in their life so they can achieve great
things.
Past Personal Experience:
2011-Current: Going back to school was a great push in perseverance. I am proud of my determination to go back
to school since school was not really my thing in high school. I am proud that I got over my fears and joined PCI!
1998: My grandfather passed away in 1998 and I had been caring for him and when he left this world I felt I could
not go on. I was sad and lonely. He was a strong figure in our family and I missed him every day. I persevered
through this time knowing he would have wanted me to move on and be happy. I decided to put some pictures of
us out on my dresser in my room so I could see him every day and would say, “I’m going to school now, Gramps!”
It kept me going and got me out the door.
Past Professional/Work Experience:
2011-Current: The decision to go back to school was a time of great professional perseverance. I was in a poor
financial situation and needed to overcome the fear of leaving a job to return to school. I am proud of the
perseverance I demonstrated to get here today for my work life.
2000-2011: I was working in a minimum wage job and did not have many friends on the job. The technology was
above my head and I was not making much money. I came to work every day, on time, and worked there for 11
years before I decided to go back to school.
Future Education
1. When times get tough at home with schedules and routines (kids), I can focus on the positive things that my
family brings to my life and take one event at a time.
2. I will continue to keep my calendar up to date and stay organized. This will help me persevere through school
and work.
3. I will put fitness in my daily routine. Working out makes me feel like I can accomplish many things and brings
me focus to stay my path and to help achieve my goals.
References:
Diane (Mom): My mom has seen me through some rough personal times and has watched me persevere through
school and life. She cheered me on, but did not jump in and fix everything, she let me make mistakes and learn
from them.
Wendy (Sister): My sister has been a great support over the years and has helped me with perseverance by
demonstrating it in her own life. She has overcome many physical and emotional obstacles and has taught me
how to “keep my chin up” and fight through the tough times with a smile.
Keith (former co-worker): When I was working with Keith, our building had suffered some damage from a tornado
and my supplies and area were damaged. He encouraged me to “re-group” and be grateful no people were hurt.
We led a building-wide assessment and helped others with their spaces that were more damaged than mine. We
persevered through our own difficulties and helped others.
