This course is designed to further develop critical reading skills for college-bound students. The skills gained in ESOL 0350 are further refined to guide students toward mastery of deduction, inference, and figurative language. This course is designed to further develop critical reading skills for college-bound students. Textbook Information Making Connections (2nd edition) by Kenneth Packenham Longman Dictionary of American English (optional) Lab Requirements Two hours each week will be devoted to work in the computer lab. Students will use Focus on Grammar, Pronunciation power and other materials determined by the instructor that facilitate student learning. Attendance and Withdrawal Policies According to the HCC Student Handbook, you can be dropped from this class if you have more than 12.5% absences of the total hours of instruction. For this class, you can be dropped after 10 hrs. of Reading Class. You are considered Tardy if you come to class after the class has begun. If you are tardy three times, that is an absence. NOTICE: Students who repeat a course three or more times may soon face significant tuition/fee increases at HCC and other Texas public colleges and universities.
