Synapse Healthcare is a new division of Synapse Wireless and is bringing this
technology into the healthcare arena. The Synapse Healthcare team is strategically
located in Nashville, TN, which is home to more than 250 healthcare companies,
including 15 publicly traded ones, that work on a multi-state, national or international
basis. It is the perfect setting to build our team of highly competent and committed
professionals to help hospitals and other healthcare providers improve patient care and
operations. Our solutions enable better patient outcomes and streamline operations by
utilizing our proven wireless network operating system to connect machines and
personnel. In short, we are making healthcare better through intelligent connectivity.
SUMMARY
The Vice President of Client Services will build, manage and lead the client services
function and team. This role will be responsible for developing technology adoption and
change management strategies and tactics to ensure successful implementation of
technology solutions. This role will collaborate with the product management and
technical teams on new solutions. The VP will consult with customers to improve
processes related to and supported by Synapse Healthcare solutions. This role reports
to the President of Synapse Healthcare, Kevin Orndorff.
REQUIREMENTS
 Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated success in healthcare IT consulting with
expertise in process improvement and change management methodologies,
particularly within hospitals
 Experience with using Software-as-a-Service (SAAS) types of techniques in the
healthcare environment-preferred
 Successful track record of building high-performance teams; Ability to develop
and manage to budgets and team goals
 Demonstrated successful market analysis, assessment, and business case
development; lean process improvement experience
 Ability to think both tactically and strategically and execute at both levels
 Self-motivated individual with experience working in dynamic, fast-paced
environments with ability to drive, develop and execute initiatives across various
functional groups
 Successful track record of demonstrating and bringing value to customers
 Excellent communication and presentation skills
 Strong charisma and ability to "win the room" quickly
 Demonstrated project management skills
 Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
 Ability to travel as needed – estimated at 30%
 Minimum education of Bachelor’s degree and MBA preferred
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 Develop, manage and lead the Client Services team, including Account
Management and Project Management
 Oversee the successful implementation of the solutions in new customers,
including successful transition from the Business Development team
 Develop a customer engagement program that drives customer value and
maximizes retention rate; Advise, consult and assist in development of client’s
short and long term growth needs
 Provide change management and process improvement consulting services to
our hospital customers to ensure successful implementation and client adoption
 Provide or assist in the timely and effective communications to client as to the
key planned Synapse Healthcare activities and events including but not limited
to: releases, documentation, web sessions, regulatory changes, new products
and services, client events
 Develop an understanding of the SNAP technology and healthcare solutions to
further develop and validate our value proposition
 Bring new ideas for product development based on relationships built with
customers




Partner with Product Management and Business Development teams to develop
go-to-market strategies including new solutions, pricing and positioning
Collaborate with the Product Management team to research and evaluate
customer needs to determine and prioritize growth opportunities, product and
technology requirements; eco-system participants, key opportunities, and
customer segments
Identify and develop “white papers” on hospital best practices related to our
solutions
Collaborate with Product Management and Cloud Development team to develop
analytics program
EXECUTIVE BIOS
Kevin Orndorff, President Synapse Healthcare
As President, Kevin is responsible for the overall corporate vision, strategic direction
and product strategy for the new Healthcare focus. In addition, Kevin oversees the
sales and client services, technology, marketing, and general administration activities.
Kevin is a proven, innovative leader in healthcare operations, information management
and technology. He is the former SVP of Operations of SpecialtyCare, where he
oversaw the acquisition and integration of 7 companies to create the 2 nd largest intraoperative neuro monitoring company the U.S. Prior to this, Kevin held the COO position
for HCA-Centennial Heart Center and Administrator of Cardiovascular Services,
responsible for hospital operations and consultation for CV service line for 14 hospitals
throughout KY, GA, and TN. Earlier in his career, Kevin held key leadership roles as
VP of Information Management for Trinity Health-Holy Cross Hospital, Senior
Consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Operations Analyst for Prudential
Healthcare. He holds a BS in Commerce from The University of Virginia, Master of
Healthcare Administration from The University of North Carolina-School of Public
Health, and received his MBA from The University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler
Business School.
Wade Patterson, CEO Synapse
Wade Patterson is a co-founder of the company and is responsible for the corporate
vision, intellectual property, and product strategy for the company. Mr. Patterson is the
former President and CEO of Intergraph Corporation’s worldwide computer business.
Prior to this, he was Vice-president of Engineering for Intergraph. In these roles, Mr.
Patterson developed a deep understanding of worldwide corporate management
including corporate strategy, intellectual property, engineering management,
manufacturing, sales, marketing, and finance. Mr. Patterson is a Distinguished Fellow of
the Mississippi State University College Of Engineering and holds a BS in Electrical
Engineering. He is a named inventor on eighteen U.S. Patents.
Chad Markle, President Synapse
As President, Chad is responsible for directing the lighting controls, solar power
automation products, custom solutions and horizontal market businesses in Synapse’s
core market of cloud-enabled, machine-to-machine (M2M) communication solutions. In
addition, he oversees the sales and support, marketing, and general administration
activities of the Company. He has demonstrated success in growing businesses,
addressing a broad set of industry issues, with passion for building strong teams.
He has worked across number of industries including: High Tech and Internet,
Technology Services, Energy, Utilities and Clean Tech; Distribution and Wholesale;
Insurance (Property & Casualty, Health, Life); Financial Services - wealth management,
institutional securities, and investment management; Consumer Packaged Goods and
Real Estate and related services. Earlier in his career, Chad served as a Director and
Partner at Bridge Strategy Group, Vice President of Mergers and Integration at
Move.com, Vice President of Operations and Technology at IPIX Corporation, Manager
at A. T. Kearney and Project Leader at Morgan Stanley & Co. Chad holds a BS in
Economics-strategic management and finance from The Wharton School, University of
Pennsylvania as well as a Certificate in Technical Architecture and Systems Design and
Development from Columbia University.
David Ewing, CTO
David Ewing is responsible for transforming new ideation and cutting-edge technology
into pragmatic, well-engineered products. With over 18 years of experience in the
Telecom, Networking, and Enterprise Database industries, Mr. Ewing has demonstrated
a broad range of engineering expertise and a proven track record in building and
managing software development teams. Mr. Ewing held key engineering and
management positions with ADTRAN, Inc. and Nokia Broadband Systems. Mr. Ewing
was a founder and CTO of Huntsville startup Teracruz, Inc, and Senior Software
Architect for DiscoveryCom, Inc. Mr. Ewing holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from
Auburn University.
Key Foster, SVP McWane, Inc. / Chairman of Board
Key is the Head of McWane Technology, actively working with company founders/CEOs
on strategic and operational issues, including culture, leadership development,
technology strategy, growth management, new product development, organizational
design, sales and marketing, supply chain, intellectual property and business
development (joint ventures and M&A). In addition, Mr. Foster sits on the Board of
Synapse as Chairman. Prior to this, Key was Principal and Co-Founder of Redmont
Hospitality, providing hotel management, asset management and other consulting
services to the hospitality industry. Key also held significant leadership roles with
Gaylord Entertainment Company, Deutsche Bank Securities, DC Investment Partners,
Trust Company of Sterne, Agee & Leach, as well as AmSouth Bank. Key holds a BS in
Business Administration from Washington and Lee University, as well as MBA from
Vanderbilt University-Owen Graduate School of Management.
