ASUSU Meeting Meeting Agenda January 14, 2013 6:00 PM Call to order & Fight Song Approval of minutes from last meeting, Karson, Jordan, Unanimous Public Forum Karson- Jazz won last night. Jeremy- I already announced that. Karson- I didn’t hear you. Jeremy- that’s fine. Holden- good game General council meeting moved back one week. WSU will be attending o Christian- Abigail will be attending. Dr. Davis Mother passed away so please sign his card. Presidents Report Charter- Update your charters by next week. Letters to incoming officers- Have your letters in by Friday. Thank you again for coming to the retreat! Especially to Karson, Mariana, Ben, and Linda for helping. Council Updates Chaise- Back to school extravaganza: we doubled our expected attendance. If you have suggestions please let STAB know. o Tomorrow is Common Hour with Preacher Moss. He is really good so come. o Tomorrow- 2:30 is sweater swap and Scottsman Dogs o Thursday- watch party at 7:00 o Friday- 8:00 “We shot the Moon” concert o Saturday- PoBev Jordan- AS getting ready for Deans’ breakfast in early April. Yesterday some changes to AOF were brought up. Tomorrow has meeting with faculty evaluation committee (IDEA Course Evaluations). Student Health and Wellness Advisory board met this morning. They are talking about international students health insurance. Abigail- Currently, working on improving residence hall town hall. This year it will be held in conjunction with general council. Going to be ordering sweatshirts tomorrow, if your size is different than the google doc then make sure you go change it. Last year, the candidates had a pizza party for their committees. We are going to do it again this year. Make sure that you give 4-6 weeks advance notice for design requests. Mariana- CSCO meeting is this Thursday at 6:30 in auditorium. Acces and Diversity Center is putting on an event on Feb. 16th in Kent Concert Hall at 7:30. Ben- Last night was the legislative preview for the university. Provost Coward talked about what our priorities will be for this legislative session. Additionally don’t forget that on the 23rd during common hour we will have training from the Exoro group on Eudcation First Initiative. Karson- Thursday- Watch Party: NMState game. There will be food as well. WBB- Free pizza, starting at 6:45, there will also be a raffle for prizes. o February- Valentines day is a game. Feb 16th we have an ESPN game against NMState. Feb 19th is the road trip to BYU. WAC tournament is over spring break. o Campus Rec Policy Board- Talking about use of student fees. Jeremy- First service steering committee meeting of semester is tomorrow. Next Tuesday from 10-2:00 in international lounge is meeting with community about service. Zach- Graduate student stipend award went out today. Christain O.- Everything is put together for fee board. Aggie Blue Bikes, Campus Rec, Music and Theater, all want increases. Meeting with organization that deals with making University a tobacco free campus. o Zack- why isn’t current smoking law enforced on campus? o Christian- Not everybody minds policy. Riley- Gov. Herbert’s travel wise council will be up here on Thursday from 11:00-1:00 it will be in facilities 114. Christian T- Retreat attendance Ad Hoc committee. Unfinished Business New Business Jordan- CNS Report: Ryan Johnson, Interfraternal President; Requesting $1,750.00 to subsidize cost of attending a national leadership conference. o Karson- Move that we pass ECB 2014-04 with a first reading without a second reading. Jordan, Jeremy, Unanimous o Jordan- read first reading. Karson, Ben, Unanimous o Christian O.- Important to know which leadership conference in line 8. Passed Unanimous. o Zack- Voting against it because compared to other AOF requests, it is not as concrete. o Abigail- I find it very comparable to Alternative Spring Break. o Christian T.- This would fund 72% of the trip. o Jordan- This is so last minute because it is a new organization that didn’t have enough time to prepare. o Riley- have you looked for funding from other sources. o Jordan- they have looked to local chapters of the fraternities. Members are already strapped for cash as it is the end of the fiscal year. Will be talking to James Morales about the future of this activity. Planning on doing fund raising for future conference. Each fraternity has paid $100 toward this trip. o Chaise- Is 4 people necessary? o Jordan- 4 would be optimal.
