Lesson Introduction/”Hook”:
Three columns on the board and brainstorm aspects
of each amendment.
Activities To Present New Information/Skills: Read about each
amendment (13,14,and15) analyze the importance of each
who benefited, how they changed lives, and who would
have been against each.
CONSIDER
- Are activities differentiated for
specific need-based groups?
- How is technology used?
- Real world relevance?
Independent/Group Practice or Application: Students will create 3 pictures
(one for the 13th amendment, one for 14th amendment, and one for the 15th
amendment) using the Drawing pad app. Then they will
insert the pictures into the Moxier Collage app. Once the pictures have been
positioned then the students will choose from one of the text bubbles or post-it notes to write
about each picture and how it represents the amendment.
Assessment of Understanding: (tied to objective)
CONSIDER
- Are assessments varied in format
and accessible to all students?
- Do assessments address the full
objective , not just basic content
knowledge?
Notes for Upcoming Lessons:
What worked?
This worked well and the students. At first I was going to have them search the internet for pictures that
represented each amendment, but the internet wasn’t working so we chose to create the pictures. I feel that worked
better than the internet pictures.
What will you change next time you teach this?
