Welcome & Priorities for the Year
- New projects: Buddy program, FMD Survival Guide,

Buddy Program
- Voting on the buddy program in the constitution: 1 chair on
MSS, 1 Med-2 rep, 1 Med-1 rep
- Motion to approve 9.1.5bi, ii, and iii is passed
- Amy passed as the Chair of the Buddy Program Committee
- $1000 budgeted for the Buddy Program this year

the Med-2 rep from class of 2017

Sponsorship Agreements
- BNC -- $21,000 every year for a total of 3 years (this is the
last year of the contract)
o Med1 and Med2 conferences to be held with BNC
o Consider other banks
- Sogemec -- $500 for frosh, $7000 for rest of the year
- LasikMD – getting more difficult to obtain sponsorship,
received $3500 for frosh
- MD financial -- $6500
- Group investors -- $2500 for Med1 and 2 conferences, also
sponsoring McGill’s gear for MedGames
- 15% for all MSS members at CafeCoffice
- Lauren and Yankovic LES insurance: 3-year contract for
the exclusivity deal - $53,000 over 3 years but just for MSS
($18,000). And for each Med-4 year, they will give $11,000
per class

- Jan 9-11, 2015
- Money for the hotels – we need to start paying them before
we give the revenue from the ticket sales

- As an MSS event every summer
- Buddy Barbeque! On Sun, Sep 21st after the Med2’s white

- We will ask for a team of 2-4 Med1s before a major event at
the annex to clean up, in exchange for discounts at events

- Halloween party for Med-Law – the profit from ticket sales
are for the McGill pre drink for the MedGames

communicate with the law faculty

- Campus and Life funding is the only source we can apply as
MSS

Global Health and Advocacy
- Community engagement day – before CHAP starts
o This is the 1 chance we can show that med can
give back. October 2nd 2014 for now
o This is in conjunction with Block A for the med-1s
o Should be advertised to all years
o These events just need manpower, the tasks has
already be organized and the students are just there
for a few hours
- National campaign – the new topic is Access to Medicine
o National day of action on 25th Oct but not ideal for
med2’s schedule unfortunately
o Possibility of having a McGill day of action??

Finance:
- $19,000 budget for the Conference Fund (CNI)
o MSS to form the Conference Fund committee –
interview everyone individually for 4-5min and we
choose how much to grant them.
o Josh, Sophie, Sophie, Jules, Sena, Neil
o Conference attended/to be attended has to take
place 6 months before and after the application

Running budget that’s from student fees $125,000 – used
$100,000 for McGill Investment Fund that will bring us
returns every year
Alex motions for a part of the return of the endowment fund
to use on the Annex – passed
Jules motion to make the Annex funding from the MSS
running budget and not a stagnant Annex fund – to be
tabled on the next meeting
Annex fund – about $12,000 is left
Last year MSS invested $100,000 of what’s left into a
mutual fund – last year the fund made $11,000 (11%)
Clubs budget - $9000 per year for all the clubs
We need to change how the clubs accounts are managed –
possibility for Alex to be the main account manager and the
club execs to be signing officers

- Gateway – to declutter and keep the most salient
information
Amy to promote the use of the
Gateway to clubs and to the student
population via the Murmur
