WORK SCHEDULE: Full-Time (40) hours per week – Monday – Friday (0800- 1600 hrs.)
COMPENSATION: ** Annual $51,122.17- $55,072.32

SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, organizing and directing training activities and programs
within Center Point Fire District. In addition, the individual will be responsible for managing the
occupational safety and health programs in accordance with NFPA 1500. This is a forty (40)
hour a week administrative position; however, the individual is subjected to being on call and is
expected to respond to working fires and major emergency incidents when required. In
addition, the individual must be proficient as a firefighter and paramedic and may be utilized
when necessary. Training/Safety Officer works under the general guidance and direction of the
Fire Chief.
REQUIREMENTS:




Must pass a Physical Examination
Must pass a Drug Test
Must pass a Background Check
Must pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and the CPFD Annual Job Task
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:











Directs the training and safety program of the department.
Performs research and makes recommendations regarding training and safety. Chairs
the Training Committee and develops short and long range training plans.
Chairs the Occupational Health and Safety Committee and investigates accidents and
injuries and monitors the overall health and fitness of the department.
Coordinates training activities with other Fire Departments, Alabama Fire College and
other outside agencies
Prepares and maintains records and reports in accordance with Department Rules &
Regulations, Standard Operating Guidelines, Alabama Fire College and the Alabama
Department of Insurance (Fire Marshal Office).
Maintains and supports NIMS training and grant writing requirements
Represents the Fire District at professional meetings and conferences as required by the
Fire Chief.
Provides support to the Shift Commanders, Fire Marshal, Battalion Chief of EMS and Fire
Chief when directed.
Responds to emergencies and serves as Safety Officer or works as part of the Command
Staff in the Incident Command System as directed.
Assist in the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, and
policies.
Must maintain membership in professional organizations associated with assigned
position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



Experience: Ten years as a certified firefighter.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be proficient with a
computer and Microsoft Office Operating System in addition to Firehouse.
Education: Associate degree in Fire Science or a related field. Bachelor’s Degree in Fire
Science or a related field is preferred.
