RSM Swim Club Minutes 7-30-2015 Call to order 6:40pm 8 members in attendance. George Astin, Sean Armstrong, Traci Olson, Richard Faigle, Jessyca Emelson, Neila Hansel, Carol Berger and Faye Mettler President is not a voting member, need 5 for quorum. Vote on June minutes – passed unanimously President – George Astin Feedback on idea of adult lap swim, Christian Rasmussen invited for input. Could offer adult swim around Christian’s lesson schedule so no extra lifeguard staff would be needed to handle tarps. Christian would post his schedule for adult use. As part of the lesson contract, swimmers are not allowed to free swim before/after lesson. Possible opportunity for the club, sell day passes for those who are taking lessons and want to stay at the pool. Would have to figure out tracking of who is participating in lessons, day passes, members etc. Vandalism in neighborhood pools, RSM, Scottsdale and Oak Grove. One caught and another 5 suspects being investigated by WC police. Stay away order for RSM property requested. Discussing option of purchasing security cameras. A Samsung home security high definition available for around $500. Would consider 4 set up outside the property. Could also look at hostile plants in areas where areas can be breeched along the fence. Swim Team – Neila Hansel DCSL August 1st, ice cream back at the pool at 7pm. Maintenance – Richard Faigle AED ordered and installed. 2 new low flow shower heads on outside showers installed. Will be replacing internal shower heads. Member fixing the gate into the chemical storage area as part of their maintenance fee. Lamorinda solar coming out next week to address leak. Brown film on tiles in the pool. Feel the pool isn’t being cleaned thoroughly. If Eastbay Pools can’t be keeping the pool clean, then they shouldn’t be managing. Will review their contract and test to see if the staining can be removed with a steel pool brush. They store the chemicals for neighbor jobs at our club so in return should be providing better pool care. Look at a closing day cleanup date available to members, likely November 7th. Treasurer – presented by George Astin Financials presented to the Board. Up approximately $7000.00 from last year in membership. Social – Carol Berger August 28th Movie and Hotdog Night. 7pm sales of hotdogs, movie 7:30pm. September 4th Adult Social starting at 7pm. Motion made by Jessyca Emelson, second by Faye Mettler. Passed unanimously. Lifeguards – Jessyca Emelson On going issues with lifeguards this season. Proposal to address is to get lifeguards on the deck, not hanging out in the office. Suggesting new training for next year including a mandatory meeting and training meeting with a mid-season evaluation. Possible pool manager Monday – Friday in the front office who can serve as an extra lifeguard as needed and held responsible for ensuring that lifeguard duties are completed. Our pool pays the lowest in the area so wages should also be looked at. Develop lifeguard rule book to follow, sign a waiver to specify expectations. Clarifying whistles and other safety issues. Recommend reenacting benching system. Discussion on arm floaties as to whether to ban or not. Could be a responsibility of the head guard. All lifeguard changes implemented for new season.
