COURSE AIMS
The course will explain the main principles of private law, highlighting goals,
development and links of a systemic nature.
COURSE CONTENT
The legal system in general; the parties to and the subject-matter of the legal
relationship; rights and obligations in the relationship; personal rights; property
rights and rights in rem; community property; possession; the impact of time on
legal relationships; aspects of the legal relationship in general; legal facts, acts and
transactions; voluntary representation; contracts in general; withdrawal;
termination; consumer contracts.
Obligations in general; the classification of obligations; the elements of the
relationship of obligation; change in the parties to the relationship of obligation;
the extinction of the obligation; breach; the debtor's assets as general security and
methods of preserving the same; sources of relationships of obligation other than
contracts; unilateral acts; liability in tort and other sources of obligations under
law; typical contracts linked to the principles of business law.
READING LIST
Students will be examined on the programme set out above and may use any university
textbook covering such areas.

TEACHING METHOD
Lectures.
ASSESSMENT METHOD
Option of written or oral examination (open-ended questions). Exam assessment of the
students attending lectures during the current year will be as notified on Blackboard.
NOTES
A good knowledge of the Constitution, the Civil Code and complementary laws in relation
to the course topics is essential.
