Testimonies in Giving
Ps Philip
I want to testify about how my life changed when I get to know God. I came across this verse in Daniel
that says ‘Those who know their God will do great exploits’. I claimed that over my life and really
believed it. Recently, my boss asked me if I can handle even the pacific region, that is promotion right
there!
Ps LV
I work as a financial investor. My work gives me no basic or no minimum income. It is possible in a month
or in a year wala akong kikitaain. I learned to live my life everyday depending on God. Right now I bought
a new car, paying my own house, helping my disciples – despite that uncertainty na wala akong client I
kept on faithfully giving my tithes. Then recently, I was in our company; I was awarded as a platinum
medallion awardee. I was surprised because hindi man lang ako dumaan sa gold, bronze, silver –it also
means receiving a salary of 300k+ in a month. Today I would like to challenge you and invite you, just as
how I have known God as my great provider – you will give. Are you ready to give?

Word
Let me tell yu something about who we are as a church – why destiny.
Here is why: We believe that God is a God of purpose, a God of destiny. In short, we believe your life is not
a mistake, hindi isang pagkakamali. God has a plan for you. You have a destiny.
There is this amazing verse – Jeremiah 29:11.
Isn’t it amazing that God has a plan for us – a plan to prosper us. I want this to be a prophetic word in
your life. Anyone of you here wants to succeed? Claim it! That word is yours! Receive it for your life. Claim
it for yourself.
Not only to prosper us but to give us hope – buhay na puno ng pag asa. Mawala nalahat sa isang tao wag
lang pag asa. Here is the fact why some people had 8 hoiurs of sleep, pero pag gising nila gusto pa din
natin matulog.
magising. Look at the kids, bakit hirap na hirap silang patulugin. My daughter Kathryn, at 1am I would tell
her to sleep, but she still keeps on jumping.
Despite the floods, the corruption, I still believe there is hope for the Philippines!
Over the last couple of weeks we have been talking about series on Knowing God. And I want to tell you
this there I nothing compared to knowing God.
It is hard because it is a lot – he is unfathomable.
Kahit sarili mo, you can honestly say na
hindi mo pa ganon kakilala sarili mo. Ikaw mismo you are a mystery to yourself.
How much more God?
Knowing God is not about a study, a bible study.
We have been talking about this verse Daniel 11:32 – the secret to strength and to doing mighty things is
directly proportional to the knowledge of God.
Could it be the
reason for somebody’s strength is because he knows God on a much deeper level.
People who don’t know
their God are weak and helpless.
Baguhin man yan.
Bumaha man yan – tibay! Langoy! Kung kalian maglimas maglilimas!
You want to do great things in life – the secret to that is knowing God.
Jeremiah 9:24
If there is one thig that is worth of boasting it is the fact that you know God.
We want us to be a church who really know God – nt just in terms of study or theology but people who
experience God.
Sino dito kilala niyo si president noynoy?
Pero sino ditto kilalala ka ni noynoy?
It is one thing to know something about a person it is another thing to know them on a personal level
Same thing with God.
John 17:3
Our spirit our being longs for eternity.
Recently I was reading this article. Medical science has proven there is life after death. Doctors do this
experiment to allow peope to die for a moment and revive then.
What is eternal life – and that is to know you
Phil 3:10
If there ws someobody who knew God it was Paul and during at the end of his life – he said ‘I want to kno
Ung iba
tumigil na sa pagkakakilala sa lord in terms of religion. We have stop in knowing God that’s why we do
not grow. The moment you stopped knowing God, is the moment you stop growing.
Sabi ni Paul, after so many experiences – I want to know Christ!
How can someone who know and experience a lot about Christ still wants ti know Christ!
All his energies are concentrated on this one thing and that is to know Him.
The sole purpose is to know Him
But how do we know God?
Paano nga ba makilala ang isang tao?
#1 Know their names
First step to know someone is to know their names.
Names are very important.
Names characterizes the person
Names are symbolic of a person
People are named a certain way because of their meaning
My full name is Leo Carlo - Leo comes from Lion which means king of the jungle
Especially during the ancient days – there is a story of Jacob and Esau
Rebecca doesn’t know she was carrying twins. During birthing, the first one that comes out is Esau, he
was full of hair. And immediately when the midwife saw Esau – because balbon ka mapupula pula ka your
names will be Esau which literally means read and hairy. Ganon magpangalan ang tao noon. Minsan
naman circumstantial. Pag pinaganak ka for example nung kasagsagan ng bagyong Luis, papangalanan
kang Luisa.
Back on Esau, the midwife was surprised that there was something pulling Esau back. It was Jacob. Jacob
was pressing to be the first born. The midwife was surprised. Baby palang may kalokohan na. Bata palang
The literal meaning of Jacob before is deceiver,
liar, manloloko.
Jacob when he grew up, he lived that kind of life. He deceived his family. Since people started calling him,
he might as well live up to it. Praise God because at one point of his life – he had an encounter. That’s why
an encounter is important. He knew God in a powerful way. That knowledge of God changed his life- even
his name. he got a new name. you will not be called Jacob says God. From this day your name will be
Israel. Israel means you are a prince and you have overcome men and you have overcome with God.
That’s why after a thousand of years, you have the nation of Israel. Lahi ni Jacob ito. Dati manloloko,
binago ng Diyos buhay nya.
To know a person is to know them by their names.
I realize one of the best ways to know God is to know His name,
Lord what is your name – have you ever asked that?
There is a person in the bible at one point in his life asked this question
You know the story of Moses?
God appeared to him in the burning bush – made Moses the deliverer.
Moses was up against the most powerful man in the world during that time.
Egypt was a super power. Here is a man who is a total nobody telling the most powerful man in the world
to let his people go. Israel during that time was a slave in Egypt.
Exodus 3:13
Moses said – Lord look at me. I am just a shepherd guy, what should I tell them.
God is unfathomable. Sometimes you think you know God already but God is just so much
So how do we know God? Do we give up on knowing him just because he is unfathomable?
My name is JEHOVAH JIREH: THE GOD WHO PROVIDES
The God who provides – whatever it is that you need he can provide
I am a God who provides – that is my name
There is an amazing story in the life of Abraham – he was the first person who experienced that God is a
God who provides. If you know him in this way it will change you. You can put your whole life before him
because you know He can provide for you
Gen 22:1-2
I want us to understand the story in the perspective of Abraham. God revealed himself to Abraham when
he was 75 years old. God said, “I am going to bless you, you are gong to be father of many nations.” That is
an interesting word. Except there is one big problem – sa edad na 75 at 65, walang anak sila ni Sarah.
Think about this fir a while, how can this man be a father of many nations if he does not even have a child.
I can imagine their frustrations when they were a young couple, but they remain childless. But finally God
told them - the amazing thing is at the age of 75, Abraham believed!
But you know what, it took another 25 years for God’s promise to come true.
breakthrough sa science and technology, hirap pa dn na manganak ang isang 99 years old. They named it
– ISAAC.
Isaac means laughter. It brought joy into their lives. All their lives that have been longing for a child. After
100 years they finally had a child. It also brought them laughter. Katawa tawa. Imagining mo ano itsura
ng buntis na 99 years old. Eto matindi, nung panahon na un wala pang milk bottles. In other words,
breastfed si Isaac. Makunat na ata yon!
Every time God appears to Abraham it is always a promise – an encouragement. But this time, God
appears to him in a different way – telling him “Take his son, your only son..”– diniin pa talaga ng Diyos.
“the son you love so much… Offer him to me as a sacrifice.” The Lord is sayig “I want you to kill your son.
Burn him.”
Sometimes when God does not do something and you don’t like it, sometimes you think it is Satan. But
Abraham knows. God is not after children killing. People during their days, sacrificing their children was
their expression of commitment. Now the test in Abraham, is: Is his commitment to God the same level as
the others or of greater than other people.
See it this way. People are committed in their jobs. They do over time, they cannot afford to be late – you
know we live in that kind of world. People are always committed to something. As a Christian, can we
actually say that our commitment with God is something that is at par with the commitment of the people
in the world?
Mga tao committed sa sinehan. You cannot afford to be late.
Going back to the story:
The next day Abraham – early next morning, he prepared. Wow. He did not even question God, he did not
even told God, “Lord give me a week. I’ll think about it..”
Together with servants, they walked to the mountain. It was probably the longest walk they ever had.
Abraham put the wood on the shoulders of Isaac, can you imagine the pain – seeing Isaac carry those
woods used to burn him.
I was just thinking, Abraham looked at his son, nanginginig ung luha.
Sabi nya, ‘The Lord will provide”.
I don’t know really happened. I am trying to figure out – he might have had
a heart to heart talk with Isaac. “The Lord told me to offer you..anak sorry but you are the sacrifice” Can
you imagine the horror? Pumapalag siguro si Isaac or pwedeng naiintindihan niya.
Abraham said “I can trust him. If he gave you to me when we were already 100 years old, he can give you
back to me” nilagay na sa altar, tinaas nya ung knife, and when Abraham was about to stab his knife – God
stopped him. Napatingin si Abraham sa kabilang gilid. Sa isang puno sa isang bush may isang kambing.
Somehow a ram got stuck in the bush. Abraham tied up the ram and placed in the altar.
‘Sabi ko sayo mag po-provide ang Lord eh”
Gen 22:13
God wants to be known in your life – not just a concept, not just an idea, but he wants to be known as who
he is – by his name. I can tell you this because I have seen how God provided for me, my family and this
church. Me and my wife are UP Graduates, and when you are a UP graduate, you already have the edge to
rise up the corporate ladder. But God put it in our hearts to become a pastor. When we started, there was
not much. You see right now 5 services but before, we started from about 30 people. Our relatives would
Di
nalang siya nag artista”
My allowance during that time was below minimum wage. We were renting an old house. Di pa uso baha
nun grabe binabaha na kami. Nung nagsisimula noon, wala akong computer and I have always wanted a
computer. We had an extra cash of about 30-40 thousand. I want to buy a laptop since kailangan sa
ministry, kase wala pa gamit nung church noon. Dati mahal pa noon laptop so nagpabili ako ng 2nd hand.
Lietrally eto ung pinakamhal na binili namin na mag asawa. Bawat araw pinupunas punasan ko un. Mahal
na mahal ko ung laptop na un. After 2 months I was invited in a Conference. My topic was about sacrifice
to God. While I was preparing for the preaching – God talked to me, “Carlo you are preaching about
sacrifice, but what is your sacrifice”. i know it was God speaking over my life. Un na pinakamahal na
bagay sa buhay ko during that time. It was more expensive than my 2nd hand car. After preaching, it was a
great breakthrough, God was still speaking “Carlo, ung laptop…” I looked for my wife, I need to ask
She just said “Bahala ka”. I
went back up the stage, grabbed the mic and gave the laptop to the pastor. During that time, I don’t even
know if I am going to have a laptop but I just trusted God. After 1 year, I got my 1st brand new laptop. It
was not just a laptop – a mac. Hindi pa uso mac noon. I was one of the first owner of mac in the
Philippines during that time. And since then, every year I always have a brand new laptop. This is not a
story about a laptop. This is about trusting God because I know him.
He wants you to know Him as a God na hindi, nagkukulang.
Pag
kailangan mo m the Lord will provide. The lord will provide for yoyur need. I have seen how God
provided for the ministry as well. Through the years from a small place, God will show us a bigger place,
we grow then God will show us a bigger place, then we grow again – before this was just a dream!
Ngayon puno na naman tayo, Lord kailangan namin ng mas malaki - kaya by October, UP Theatre na
tayo!
If you are that person and you have a need, stand up right now – he is the God who provides!
You are sick, God will provide healing
If you have members in the family who does not know God, God will provide an opportunity
If you have a need, God will provide!
WHAT IS YOUR NEED?
Finances?
House?
Cars?
Wife?
WHAT IS YOUR NEED?
The God says I will provide for your need! That is the God that I know and that is the God who wants to be
known himself as a God who provides.
