Station Camp Striders Running Club Dear Parents/Guardians, We are excited about another year of running club with the Station Camp Striders! Please return the attached permission slip to the P.E. Office by the first practice on Thursday, October 3rd if your child is interested in participating. We ask that you fill out a new form, regardless if you were a Strider last year, because there have been several changes! Please note: it is never too late to join running club, so if you have missed the deadline please return this permission form by the first practice you attend! We encourage you to participate with us in various optional Fun Runs throughout the school year as a family, but have to ask that practices at school consist of 3-5th grade students ONLY. Our training will prepare interested students to represent Station Camp Elementary well in our last event of the season, the ING Kids Country Music Marathon at LP Field in the springtime. We encourage Striders and parent runners that intend to participate in such events to purchase a new Striders t-shirt, but please know this purchase is not mandatory. Please go ahead and CIRCLE your child’s/your t-shirt size on the attached slip, and make a check payable to Station Camp Elementary. T-shirts are $8/each. Outside family members and guests will not be permitted at practice, in order to keep your child safe. You must return the attached permission slip by the 1st practice you attend! Station Camp Striders will practice on Thursday mornings from 7:00-8:00a, beginning on Thursday, October 4th , during the months of Oct-Nov & Feb-March only! Dress: Supportive, lace-up tennis shoes are strongly encouraged! Students will be expected to arrive for practice between 7:00-7:15a, using the side (gym) entrance. There will NOT be a supervising teacher in attendance before 7:00a/after 7:15a, so NO early/late arrivals permitted! Gym doors will lock at 7:15a. Striders may occasionally practice at the SCHS Track, weather permitting. These special occasions will be determined on a day-by-day basis, so runners must always be prepared (water bottle, proper attire, etc.) Please note: All procedures will remain the same! This includes NO outside guests, and students NOT being permitted to arrive at the track. Striders will partake in various local Fun Runs, often on weekends.
