People first
• Whatever the disability, it’s better
to say a person with (disability)
instead of deaf, blind, …
Example: Don’t say “autistic” but
say “person with autism.”
• People come first, not the
disability!
Don’t be silly!
Disability isn’t contagious!
• Some kids think they can catch things
from other kids. You can catch a cold,
but you can’t catch a disability!
• Disabilities aren’t the same as illness
• Kids with disabilities are just like all kids,
and want to be friends
Asking for help
• Everyone needs help sometimes.
• If you are a kid with special needs, don’t be afraid to
ask for help
• If you are a friend of a kid with disabilities, ASK them if
they need help first
• All kids have the right to do things for themselves the
best they can!
