The Twelve Labors of Hercules Project Pick one of the following tasks (labors) to complete as a group. You will present these tasks to the class on Friday. Make sure you have completed all parts of the task and have come up with information to present. Groups: You will have jobs within your groups. Everyone, regardless of job, will participate! -Leader= Responsible for keeping everyone on task and working hard. -Illustrator= in each task there will be some sort of picture, you must draw it, not print it out! -Researcher= this person makes sure the information is accurate and gather additional information if needed. -Presenter= this person is in charge of presenting the information to the class. If there are not four members in a group, this responsibility will fall to the leader. Task #1: Mastery of the Information: Create a chart, brochure, poster, or mini-book detailing the 12 labors that Hercules had to complete during his punishment. Make sure to describe each task in detail (5-6 sentences) and illustrate at least 5 examples of the tasks Hercules had to complete. Be sure to include facts, details, and examples in your product. (This can be done on Prezi, book creator or Power point, but the picture must be drawn then photographed and then inserted into the presentation. If you need help, ask!) Task #2: Extra! Extra! Read all about it!: You are a reporter for the local news…and you have been sent to cover Hercules as he attempts to complete 3 of his tasks. Write a newspaper article for each task he completes (your choice). These articles must contain an appropriate headline and picture (drawn) and must be no more than 2 paragraphs. Make sure to describe in detail the labor he must complete, how he completes it, and any witness accounts that saw it happen. After you complete your three articles, record a short 5 min video as a news anchor and cover one of your stories. Have fun with this part! (You must get creative with this one!) Give the facts! Be a reporter! Task #3: Modern Day Hercules: Obviously modern day superheroes are based somewhat on the myth of Hercules. Imagine if the world had a modern Hercules that had to perform twelve tasks. He would probably have to complete different tasks than the one we read about. Think about and develop at least 3 new tasks that a modern day Hercules would have to complete in today’s world. Create a 6 pane (window) paper/comic with a description and drawing of your 3 modern day tasks for Hercules to complete. Include how he could complete them in a summary at the end. You may also utilize a website called, Story Board, if you want to use this tool, let me know and I can help. Task #4: Design a Facebook (Fakebook) page for Hercules: Hercules is new to social media, so he is very obsessed with posting about his 12 labors. Your job is to create his page. You must include the following, a picture of Hercules (drawn), “About” Information (born, died(?), family, job, interests, favorites), and posts (24 total, 2 per labor (a before and after) each post must be 2-3 sentences in length.). You will draw out the page on a poster first then, you will use a website to create a fakebook page for Hercules. The posts and information needs to be thought out and appropriate for the story.
