The President’s Corner
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
I hope you all made it through last week's winter
weather ok. The Lenten season is in full swing. We are
continuing OSL Midweek Lenten Service and dinner each
Wednesday night during Lent. I am sure that each of us will
be blessed by the Lord’s message about the death and
resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please be
faithful in attending these services and bring your friends and
family as well. Lent continues through the first week of April,
with Easter being on April 5th.
The OSL Griefshare program also continues. This is a
great support group for anyone dealing with the deaths of
family, friends and loved ones. There are still a few meetings
left and it is still not too late to join. If you yourself need help
dealing with a loss or know of anyone that could benefit from
this program, please encourage them to attend. They will be
blessed by this wonderful experience. Please contact the
Church Office or Sandy Marg if you need further information.
Please continue to pray for the Call Process as OSL
continues the search for a Director of Christian Education or a
Youth Pastor. Pastor Mac and the Call Committee are working
with the District Office and are hoping to have a list of potential
candidates ready for preliminary review soon.
The prep work for the sign is complete, the sign post is
in place and the wiring and conduit have been pulled, and the
sign has been fabricated and is ready to ship. The sign should be
up and running before Easter Sunday. As always, be sure to
check the website www.oursaviorcabot.org or the bulletin board
in the hallway for the dates of all these events and to keep
abreast of all the exciting things happening at Our Savior
throughout the year.
Please continue to lift up in your prayers those friends and family members with illnesses and those who have
recently lost love ones. Also, keep the Our Savior Lutheran leadership in your prayers. Our Savior is an
awesome place to worship and serve our Lord and I thank each of you for all that you do here at Our Savior
Lutheran. Only with Christ as our lord, can we continue to keep HIS church growing and strong.

MEN’S BIBLE CLASS
FOR MARCH
The Men’s Bible Class will meet Saturday March14th and the 28th. We will meet in the Youth
Class Room from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Please mark your calendar for those dates and join us as we study
about The 23rd Plasm Your Good Shepherd. Dates for April are the 11th and the 25th. We have to use the side
door on the left side of the church. There is a meeting going on in the Fellowship Hall on Sat., during Jan. Feb.

FLY (Faith Led Youth) Discipleship will meet this Sunday, March 1st from 3-4:30pm.
CAN YOU COUNT ALL THE TEARS YOU HAVE SHED?
Record my lament; list my tears on your scroll—are they not in your records?
(Psalm 56: 8)
How many tears have you shed in your lifetime? How many tears did you cry when you lost a loved
one? How many tears of joy did you shed over the miracle of a newborn? When difficult times came and you
didn’t think you could make it through them, how many tears of frustration did you shed? Can you count all the
tears you have shed in your lifetime?
“Of course not—impossible!” you say. And you would be correct. No one can keep a record of all the
tears they have shed. That is: except God! When you get discouraged and think no one cares, meditate on the
psalm listed above and know the depth of the love of God, our heavenly Father for His children. Just as God
counts the number of hairs on your head, He also weeps when we weep. It hurts Him so much that he records
every tear you shed in his heavenly record book. And someday He will wipe every tear from your eyes and can
hardly wait until that day happens. What amazing love! What human mind can begin to understand the depth of
such love of God through our Savior Jesus Christ. And God longs for us to understand how much He loves us
and tells us over and over in His Word.
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have the power together with all the saints, to
grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses
knowledge—that you may be
filled to the measure of all the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 3: 17a – 19).
PRAYER MINISTRY
And as he (Jesus) taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer
for all nations’?” (Mark 11: 17).
Our Savior Prayer Ministry is now underway. Brief prayers are being offered to God prior to worship
services. People are in place to go to homes of those who are ill or are caregivers who are unable to
attend worship. If this service is needed, call the church at 605-8082 and two people will be
scheduled to come to your home and pray with you.
If you would like to volunteer for this ministry please call the office and leave your name and phone
number and the prayer ministry coordinator will contact you.

Pastor Mac presented a “participation” series last month. Please prayerfully consider how you
could assist in one (or more) of these areas. Contact the office, your Elder or a council member

After many requests, here is the recipe for Spinach and Mushroom
Casserole.
Ingredients
Original recipe makes 6 servings
2 tablespoons butter
1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 (10 ounce) packages fresh spinach, rinsed and stems removed
1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, divided

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2 quart casserole dish.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute mushrooms until tender, about 8 to 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, place spinach in a large pot. Wilt over medium heat; drain, squeezing or pressing out excess water. Place in prepared
baking dish and top with salt, 4 tablespoons melted butter, onion and 1/2 of the cheese. Layer mushrooms on top and sprinkle with
remaining cheese.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes.
The theme for Wednesday, March 4th dinner will be Mexican. . If you are not able to bring a dish that goes
with the theme of the evening, whatever you can bring will be fine.

Did You Know—OSL Properties update and info
I got a good response from my last article and appreciate all the help with setting the thermostats properly back
to 62 winter or 78 summer and reporting any properties issues / breakdowns. I had good help to replace several
burned out bulbs and replace an entire lighting unit in the Sanctuary and fix several minor problems. PLEASE
keep those inputs coming in. I will try to put up a clipboard so you can note any issues, but until I get that up—
please just tell me or report to the OSL Sec staff any issues.
The electrical power is now out to the new sign and we are hoping ACTION SIGN will be able to install the
new sign by the end of the second week in March. They expect to receive the LED panels on Monday, 2 March
and will combine those panels with the frame and top portion showing the church name that were constructed
locally. We have now collected almost enough to fully pay for the sign without dipping into Building
Maintenance/General Funds as approved in the last Congregational Meeting. If you’d still like to contribute to
the sign fund, just mark your gift as such. It would be fantastic to be able to pay for the sign without touching
any other church funds
Now for the DID YOU KNOW : late Feb or early March is the time to trim many of the bushes in our gardens
including Knockout roses and Crepe Myrtles. . We have several Crepe Myrtles at OSL. We also need to trim
several of the decorative grasses and weed/re-mulch the flower beds. If you have some time—the Garden Team
could use your help. See Jim Marg. And IF YOUR TALENT ISN”T in the garden BUT you still want to
help—still see me—there are several programs at OSL that still need helpers!!!

envelope has been placed on the bulletin board in the hall.
The cost is $10. Easter Sunday is April 5th this year.

For March it is proposed that we go to Garvin Gardens for the daffodils and tulips on Saturday, 21
March. Meet on Saturday 21 Mar at 11:30 at OSL (after Griefshare!) to go to Blue Monkey for lunch, then on to Garvin
Gardens!
For April—With all the Easter activities, I propose a Movie/Game night/ Potluck at OSL Fellowship
Hall. We have not set date, but suggest the third weekend-Saturday , 18 April or Sunday 19 April after third
service. I need your input on preference time/date
For May—Mark and Karen Valdez have proposed a BBQ/Cookout at their place (they are now living in Cabotnear Knight’s grocery store). They will provide the meat and ask folks to bring side dishes/deserts The
proposed date is Saturday, 16 May from 4:00 PM until ????
For June—looking at another trip to Murray’s Dinner Theater for another dose of “The Church Basement
Ladies.” This is the same comedy theme of the last show, but is a NEW show. The proposed date is Saturday,
13 June for dinner and a show. Much more to follow on this after I get to talk with Murray’s to get date, time,
and Group rate setup.

Our Savior Lutheran Church
A Place of Encouragement
This church is filled with “humble servants”. People who do big things,
people who do little things. People who do work behind the scenes, or work
that is front and center. The point is this: We’re blessed to have such
faithful servants and are encouraged as individuals to notice them. As we
do, the body of Christ here at Our Savior builds itself up in love. Sooo, look
around and take notice of the incredible servants here. Seek them out and
offer words of affirmation. Hebrews 3: 13 says, “But encourage one another
daily as long as it is called today.”
