ANNOUNCEMENTS May 17, 2015 ______________________________________________________________________________ “Our task is to make disciples for Jesus Christ” We welcome you to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Thank you for worshiping with us, as we give thanks and praise to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. If you are new, please introduce yourself to Pastor Katie, sign the guest book and the pew pad. We would love to give you a token of appreciation for worshiping here today. The Sanctuary candle burns in loving memory of Mrs. Rebecca Peabody. Today we welcome choir members from all over our community to St. Peter’s as they present ”Jesus, Only Jesus”, an Easter cantata, at our 9:00 am worship service! They will proclaim the good news of Jesus’ resurrection to us today. Thank you being here! We are getting together to make meals for “Your Neighbors” on Thursday, May 21st at 10:00 am. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. We are aiming for 100 meals. It does not take long with 4 or 5 people. For more information talk with Deb Rafte. You’re invited to bring red geraniums to decorate the altar for Sunday, May 24, Pentecost. Red is the color of the Holy Spirit and we will be “on fire” with beautiful red flowers for Pentecost! Any geraniums left afterward will be planted in the church garden. For May, our Mission of the Month is the Lutheran Charities Appeal of the Central Crossroads Conference. The appeal benefits ten different ministries that make a difference right here in central New York. St. Peter’s members benefit directly from several of them. You can designate your gift using the envelope in your bulletin, or donate to whatever is needed most in the “bear jar”. We are continuing our can tab collection for Synod Assembly in the large plastic jar on the Welcome Table. Please try to have your tabs here by next Sunday. Thanks! We are in need of coffee (both regular & decaf) for our Sunday morning coffee hours. Contact Betty Browell or Nan Richard for more information. Would you like to make an offering to help earthquake victims in Nepal? Please check the Welcome Table for a flyer on how to give through Lutheran World Relief. 100% of donations go to provide help. 8:00 am Breakfast with the Bible 9:15 am Nursery School 2:00 pm Pastors’ Sermon Study 6:00 pm Girl Scouts Wednesday, May 20th: 9:00 am Community Christian Seniors Group 9:15 am Nursery School Thursday, May 21st: 9:15 am Nursery School 10:00 am Cooking for “Your Neighbors” 4:30 pm Nursery School Board Mtg. 7:00 pm Sisters of the Faith Bible Study Sunday, May 24th: Pentecost 8:00 am Choir Rehearsal 9:00 am Worship with Communion 10:15 am Sunday School & Choir Rehearsal 11:15 am Worship with Communion Scriptures: Ezekiel 37:1-14, Psalm 104:24-34, 35b, Acts 2:1-21, John 15:26-27; 16:4b-15 Monday, May 25th: Memorial Day Church offices are closed today. Vanderkamp brochures are running behind this year, but there are flyers on the Welcome Table with details about the 2015 season. The theme is “Summer of Peace and Love” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vanderkamp! Please check out the flyers and consider spending some time in the great outdoors this summer. Check out the second bulletin board in the hallway for information on Tons of Love, a service project that takes left-behind things from the SU dorms and gives them away to people who need them in Syracuse. Volunteers are needed for this transforming ministry coordinated by First English Lutheran Church from April 29 – May 15. The Verona Food Pantry is in great need of peanut butter and any type of pasta. There is a box in the narthex for these items. Thank you!
