Title: Director of Development and New Business

Role purpose

Scope exists to make this country a place where disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else. We provide support, information and advice to more than 250,000 disabled people and their families every year. We raise awareness of the issues that matter.

As Director of Development and New Business you will be expected to identify, create and proactively respond to local, regional and national market opportunities that align with our strategy and strategic aims.

Working alongside and collaboratively with your Services Senior Management Team

(SMT) colleagues you will lead the Services Directorate in developing its capability to respond to market and partnership opportunities through the development of appropriate commercial and innovative skills.

This important strategic role will work in direct partnership with the Fundraising and

Innovation and Foresight Directorates to identify and deliver opportunities for new investment, innovation and partnership working.

Role specific

Develops, lead and implement the strategy for development and new business in Scope ensuring alignment t o Scope’s strategy and strategic aims.

Ensures effective, consistent and efficient approaches to the implementation of new services, pricing models and performance management of contracts.

Works collaboratively to develop new products and approaches to take to market.

Leads on the growth strategy for services, identifying, qualifying and bidding for contracting opportunities across England and Wales that align with our strategy and strategic aims.

Collaborates with Finance and Fundraising to secure new investment opportunities to support service development and innovation.

Networks at the most senior level across commissioning bodies to position Scope as the provider of choice.

Explores opportunities for collaborative working and partnerships to further enhance the ability to meet Scope’s vision and purpose.

Develops and maintains strong senior level relationships with strategic partners in other organisations to enable Scope to maximise its potential impact.

Produces commercially sound business plans and business cases.

Provides assurance of strategic fit and regulatory and statutory compliance for new business and ongoing assurance thereafter.

Makes recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team on future direction and opportunities direction based on robust and rigorous market research and analysis.

Continually assesses existing markets and potential markets to gain intelligence and insight to identify opportunities for growth, development and innovation.

Works with External Affairs to ensure that new business and development is aligned to

Scope’s external campaigning voice.

Meets objectives for growth in income, diversification for service provision and market reputation.

Recruits, develops and engages a high performing team through the provision of effective leadership.
