Club Satisfaction Findings
One element of the Sports Partnership is the Club Satisfaction Survey, including
building an action plan from the survey results to improve member satisfaction
 61% were satisfied with the current club administration
(Increase of 13% from the Warwick Sport Review)
 You said that communication between the partnership and
the sports clubs was poor and that you are less satisfied than
you were last year (satisfaction dropped by x%)
 You said that access to sports facilities is still an issue as
demand exceeds supply (73% seeing this as very important)
 Only 4.4% of club members completed the survey
Club Satisfaction Key Actions
 We will prepare a Communication Strategy that we will launch in
January 2016. For the time being we have instigated the use of
club emails to ensure everyone is informed – linked to Exec
Registration which Alex will come onto shortly
 The Sports Partnership has appointed an independent voluntary
Chair and he is required to "support Warwick Sport and the
Students Union in ensuring that the club experience is exceptional,
inclusive and responsive to new ideas.”
 Club Satisfaction Survey will be sent out at the end of Term 2
rather than Term 3.
 There will also be an incentive for completing the survey
 We have reviewed the current processes associated with Facility
bookings – more to come on this later in Key Dates and Facilities

Consent training each year

 Equality and Diversity – coming now
Equality and Diversity
 Being fair while having a successful year
 Being inclusive: not missing out on great members
 Not breaking the law
 Protecting yourself and your digital footprint
 Protecting your club and society
Our Commitment
Every Warwick student will be
valued & included equally as a
welcome, respected, engaged
and valued part of the SU
community.
Why does this matter to us?
Why does this matter to us?

These things go beyond just us – there is national scrutiny
across the board on issues relating to this

People are increasingly aware and perceptive of these
issues.

Don’t fall behind.

Today is about you, your club and everyone’s futures.
For those clubs that haven’t submitted them already, I need your
adoptions forms by no later then the end of this week
Equality and Diversity extends
well beyond adoptions however!
• There are 9 legally protected characteristics which are covered
by Equality and Diversity legislation
Context: alienation of groups
 Muslim students have reported an increase of discrimination, or
what they felt to be Islamophobia, on university campuses. 30
percent of Muslim students surveyed felt isolated at university for
being Muslim.
 There are more students of Black Caribbean origin at London
Metropolitan University than at all the Russell Group universities
put together
 Race Relations Amendment Act 2000 states that higher education
institutions have the duty to eliminate unlawful racial discrimination
and to promote equality of opportunity and good relations between
persons of different racial groups.
Sexist and Rape Chants
 On September 2, 2013, a video
was uploaded to Instagram that
brought national attention to an
Orientation week cheer. In the
video, Saint Mary's students,
both male and female, were
seen participating in a chant
that expressed excitement
towards rape. The chant, which
had been part of Orientation
Week for at least five years,
contained a particular line
saying "N is for No-consent".
 Jared Perry the president of
Saint Mary's University
Students' Association stepped
down from the former position
and called his failure to stop the
chant "the biggest mistake" of
his life.
What Recruiters think…
“A global perspective can be developed through interacting
with students and staff from diverse backgrounds – it makes
those graduates a better fit for us”.
“We need good graduates to work in China: if they’ve used
their time well at University they will have taken the time to
become familiar with that culture, maybe even the language
and certainly the way that businesses operate. Then we want
them”
“Our business accelerates through our teams knowing
instinctively how to get on with EVERYONE – clients,
suppliers, off-site, employees, consultants. If a graduate lacks
that skill we can’t use them, its simple”
Varsity
 It was clear from your feedback last year that Varsity wasn’t the
event that many of you wanted it to be
 To make it more competitive, the outcome more unpredictable
and the event more of a spectacle, this year Varsity will be
first-team only
 Event will be later on in term two
 The event will happen over a Big Varsity Weekend
 Ice Hockey opening event on Thursday 25th February
 Rugby Finale straight after Wasps vs. Harlequins at the Ricoh
Arena on Sunday 28th February
Game of the Week Feature

Wednesday Afternoons Survey
 One of my priorities and one of the Sabb team’s priorities for this
year is to campaign for free Wednesday afternoons
 To assist that campaign I need as much data as possible to take to
the University
 We have put together an online survey which I will be sending
around
 Need you all to make sure that you spread this throughout your
clubs so I can show the University that his is a significant issue
 Deadline is Friday Week 4

Changes to Charity
Collections
charities@warwicksu.com
Background
 Ever tighter eye on Charity Fundraising, Students’ Unions and
regulations.
 Joint with RAG, we want the number of charity collections and
fundraising to keep increasing and grow.
 We want to give more freedom to Clubs and Societies to do more
fundraising and build links with charities they fundraise for.
 We want to get money donated faster and have you properly thanked.
 We want the new RAG Fundraising Co-ordinator to focus on
developing Fundraising with Clubs and Societies and expanding the
opportunities available to you.
Background
 We want Clubs and Societies to feel trusted.
 There were issues with capacity last year, and limits to fundraising
were put in place at various points, including limits on numbers of
collections and collections stopping all together in mid-Term 1.
 This felt incredibly frustrating for everyone.
 But in order to allow fundraising to grow and for us to offer you the
maximum support, we have to make some changes to allow this to
happen.
Changes to the Process
The change we’re implementing will affect cash collections that would
normally come through the SU.
The SU will now process funds for:
 10 Top Charities - voted for by Clubs and Societies execs at
Convention and Council
 One-Off events - such as Comic Relief, Sport Relief, Children In
Need, Movember…
 Humanitarian Crises and Appeals - things that need urgent
donations.

What Have We Done?
 Created an ongoing database of charities historically fundraised for by
Clubs and Societies over the past 3 years.
 Contacted all charities to get their payment information and
capabilities.
 We’re recruiting the RAG Fundraising Co-ordinator currently - that will
be coming into post at the end of October.
Drop-Ins
This is a big change so we appreciate you may have queries
or worries.
You can send through questions to charities@warwicksu.com
or staff will be hosting Drop-Ins in the SUHQ Resources Room,
Wednesday-Friday, from 11am - 2pm.
Next Steps
 Vote on 3 charities - we will shortlist the top 10 from this list.
 If your Club / Society fundraises for a particular charity each
year, please email us over the information to
charities@warwicksu.com so we can ensure they are on our
database.
 The same applies as last year - get your charity fundraising forms in
when you want to run a charity collection (the earlier the better) and
the RAG Fundraising Co-ordinator will then assist you with setting it
up.
Tomorrow
• Doors open at 11 so it would be advisable to get there a little bit
before
• Access to power is going to be in incredibly short supply, so if you are
planning on using laptops etc. to display videos and promo, it is worth
having more than one laptop or device fully charged and ready for
use.
• Alcohol, stickers, or fly posting around the building will not be
permitted.
• Collectively it is really important that we push people to buy
their memberships online, otherwise it is going to be mayhem at
the tills
• Please do not take down your tables and stands at the end of the
day as they are required for Societies Fair on Wednesday!
