Owen was #49 when Dean Bradford took over in March 2005. Many stakeholders are willing to help but want to see progress first. We see this as validation that our strategy will work. 2 US News – More Quantitative BusinessWeek – more subjective GMAT / GPA Placement Rate at Graduation Compensation Student Satisfaction Survey Recruiter Survey Faculty Reputation (smaller) 3 Achieve an immediate increase in student quality in the Core MBA program by lowering the class size, increasing the applicant pool, leveraging alumni to recruit prospective students, and aggressively funding scholarships. Meanwhile, increase the number of students going through focused, innovative, one-year programs in health care, finance, and accounting. Leverage recently-endowed chairs to recruit outstanding faculty and boost the prestige of the Vanderbilt program. Market our graduates with relentless discipline, focus, and innovation. Enhance Vanderbilt’s perception to both recruiters and deans of other schools by conducting an exhaustive rebranding of the Vanderbilt story. Address the urgent need for an upgrade in facilities. 4 695 average GMAT is the highest in school history. One-year programs are succeeding in both student quality and employer satisfaction. We have the right team and the right focus. “This is Vanderbilt Business” re-brand has been well-received by all stakeholder groups and effective in positioning the school well. Every time an alumnus hires an Owen grad before graduation, our placement stats move forward by 0.6%. Help students find jobs. Our alumni are not responsible for getting our graduates jobs. However, we should all pitch in and help. Contribute financially. Discretionary dollars are critical boosts to scholarships and the greatest needs at the school. Recruit students to Vanderbilt.
