Overview

Pool created in 1999

Main objective: to promote infrastructure development in West Africa and
develop an integrated, sustainable, regional electricity market

Key activities undertaken so far:

Revised ECOWAS Master Plan 2004
World Bank $350 million WAPP APL loan program approved 2005
WAPP organisation established as association of utilities 2006
WAPP donor coordination (10th meeting of committee, Paris Sept 2006)
Operation Manual for interconnected system, Sept 2006
