UOAA Mission
As a student run organization, the UOAA operates as the point of contact between the accounting profession and
student body. We ensure that there are significant resources available in order for students to obtain the most
value from their time spent as a UOIT student. In addition, we look to provide students with more incentives to
participate in on campus and external events as the UOAA understands that these are important for the
development in student professional skills and to enhance the reputation of UOIT. Lastly, our goal is to
demonstrate to our sponsors that we continue to be a reliable promoting source and will assist in the recruitment
of students.
Additional Information
These position descriptions entitle the role they have within the UOAA and the responsibility they have. However;
tasks, contact information, delegation of tasks, and partnerships within the UOAA will be further discussed once
the individual has been placed in their role. Roles are not restricted to the tasks outlined in document.
President
Restrictions on running for president are as follows:
One of the following must be met
 1 year prior experience as an Executive Signing Member on the UOAA or,
 2 years prior experience as an Executive Member
In addition successful applicants must meet all the following criteria:
 GPA of 3.2 or higher and,
 Member who has intentions to or is already majoring in Accounting and,
 Member who is entering his/her 3rd or 4th year and,
 Cannot be an Executive Member, by UOAA definition, for another BITSoc Group
Job Description




Develop and maintain the UOAA’s long-term goals and ensure initiatives fall within the UOAA objectives
outlined in the UOAA Constitution
Effectively ensure that the constitution of the UOAA is amended as needed in order to maintain the
wellbeing of the association
Communicate with internal and external contacts in order to create opportunities for the student body:
o Faculty Representatives and Professors
o Executive Team
o Firm and Company Representatives
o CPA Ontario and CGA Ontario Representatives
o External University Presidents
Represent the UOIT accounting student body and create opportunities for the development of UOIT

Attend BITSoc Meetings and promote events and initiatives to other major business faculty associations
and clubs
Overlook the operations of the UOAA and delegate/oversee work of all VP’s
All decisions by VP’s will be addressed to the President who will then make the final decision
Assist the VP of Finance in the creation of a Sponsorship Package
Assist the VP of Events in the event organizing and planning process
Create business plans in order to obtain supplementary funding, approval of events, and approval from
risk assessment
Ensure that all members fulfill their roles and maintain communication with the entire Executive
Hold members accountable for their roles and duties to be completed, which includes terminating those
members who do not fulfill their roles and responsibilities
VP of Operations
Restrictions on running for VP of Operations are as follows:
One of the following must be met
 1 year prior experience as a Signing Authority for a SA club or,
 1 year prior experience as an Executive Member
And must meet all the following criteria:





GPA of 3.2 or higher and,
Member who has intentions and is expected to major in Accounting and,
In academic good standing and,
Cannot be an Executive Member for another BITSoc Group and,
Student cannot be entering his/her 4th year
Job Description





Maintain contact with UOIT personnel in order to book rooms for events and meetings
Complete event forms and submit to faculty four weeks prior to the event date
Work in conjunction with the VP of Marketing and SA representatives to acquire poster approval
Oversee all the internal affairs of the UOAA:
o Confirmations – poster approval
o Scheduling - rooms, media services
o Maintaining contact with faculty – Dean, Associate Dean, Faculty Liaison
Gain a thorough understanding of all the internal affairs, which include the following:
o Roles of all team members
o Upcoming events
o Scheduling

Manage hiring of the additional executive positions for the new team in March
Ensure a confidentiality agreement is signed by each executive office at the beginning of their term
Responsible for developing offer of executive position letters
VP of Finance

Job Description








Collecting and keeping record of transactions & receipts throughout the fiscal year
Preparing sponsorship packages (this will mainly be done during the summer, thus one must have a
flexible schedule then)
Keep an ongoing record of expenses and revenues with every event throughout the year
Prepare a budget for the associations expenses and revenues prior to the start of the year
Constantly update the preliminary budget that was created as the expenses and revenues accumulate
Supervise and control the cash box and the money in the box for every event
Keep track of reimbursements and complete SA reimbursement forms in order to reimburse an individual
Attend monthly meetings with the UOAA President to discuss budget adjustments, possibilities for
increased funding, and financial issues
