Job Purpose Provides management with objective analysis, detailed observations and recommendations relating to key business risk areas to mitigate the spectrum of risks relating to the achievement of business objectives and plans within the area of responsibility. Provide independent, objective assurance that key risks are being managed to ensure they are within the risk appetite approved by the Board. Supports the AVP of Internal Audit in his/her assessment of the overall risk management environment. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities Supports the AVP, Internal Audit in the development and continuous review of an annual risk-based audit plan, aligned to business strategy. Manages the delivery of a large portfolio of varied audit assignments on time, to quality and budget requirements. Manages, coaches and mentors a team of Auditors/Senior Auditors/Audit Managers within a matrix structure. Maintains a strong working relationship with members of the Group-wide Internal Audit team. Builds and sustains excellent working relationship with senior and line management. Discusses audit report and finding with senior line management and ensures the appropriate responses are obtained for each issue raised in the report. Takes a lead role in shaping the on-going development of the internal control processes. Manages a range of continuous improvement, administrative and reporting tasks needed to meet stakeholder requirements. Reviews the work of Audit Managers and ensuring its compliance with standards. Participates in the construction of the annual audit plan. Other duties Performs other special projects or duties as assigned. Qualifications Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Detailed knowledge of financial, operational, investment management and/or broker-dealer abusinesses. Demonstrated ability to excel in a dynamic environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Must demonstrate ethical behavior. Detailed knowledge of auditing standards. Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, analytical and research skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external client relationships. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coach and develop people. Strong team player with strong professional and interpersonal skills. PC skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with audit productivity software packages. Education and Experience Required Bachelor’s Degree 8-10 years in an internal/external audit role with management experience; insurance or financial service industry experience preferred. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA) or other recognized audit or accountancy qualification required. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), ACL Certified Data Analyst (ACDA) or Securities Licenses preferred.
