Poetry Slam Famine, Flooding, War, Terrorism, Global Warming. Is it just you? The World in my view is falling apart. It’s what I’m seeing. Who’s to blame? It’s the human beings We’re the ones who don’t care About the polar bears. They’re in danger We’re supposed to be their saviour Right now their habitat is melting which is making the sea levels rise That may come to you as a surprise. If you are thinking how have we done this, Well there must have been a lot you’ve missed. Do you realise we’re polluting the air? Making a great big hole in your atmosphere. Cars and planes are the ones to blame, mainly. But that doesn’t stop us from using them daily. When you throw rubbish away it goes to land fills This is loads of rubbish piled on top growing like a hill. Greenhouse gases are produced are produced if you burn this down It’s not a pretty sight, just take a look around. All this has affected the weather badly and it’s not right. What will you do to fix this sight? Mareeka People in the army always getting shot Tryna show the other countries what they’ve got They say we are protected But most people feel neglected They teach kids not to hate But when their parents die how can they concentrate Starting wars won’t solve nothing Tryna nuke other countries, they’re just bluffing They teach you in school that fighting is not good But most fights are misunderstood Fighting will not make anyone happy Nearly everyone would be unhappy Kids walking round with knifes Taking other people’s lives Loads of people dying. Many children left crying. Josh All these people carry knives Everyday I go through strife Watching people lose their life There are people with no home In the street all alone Soldiers have gone out to war Lots of soldiers, shot to the floor You might not see that man anymore. People use all they’ve got Everyday someone gets shot Lots of bodies have been found 28 bombs on the underground It’s just a waste of time This world is one big crime They say don’t cross the line. Do what you want Your life aint mine I’m wasting my breath Saying these bars Aint gonna stop any death! Brandon Help Haiti Let’s help the people, help them survive. Film them on TV and make sure it’s live. Everyone’s watching to see what they go through Then we can see what things we can help or do. This is someone’s story I’m about to tell From her point of view, Haiti is hell. ‘It was 3 in the morning, I felt shaking I looked out the window and saw what this monster was making. I went outside, everyone’s screaming. People were buried under the rubble, at first I thought I was dreaming. Where was my dad, was he alive? I searched through the rubble to find him dead It couldn’t be true, was it in my head? This corrupt government, they don’t even care! If they did they would buy us new clothes to wear. I was sitting on my so called ‘bed’ Then a though popped into my head If you put and man a woman together, they make a baby. If you put innocent people and a poor government together, it makes Haiti’. So I’m gonna make a stand and say how I feel Then see if they make it a big deal. Paige Guns, cars, peoples and more Sometimes just leave us lying dead on the floor. Floods, droughts, storms and tornadoes They all cause hazards just like volcanoes But sometimes people do things on purpose Coz their lifelong ambition is to kill us n hurt us Look at them gangster right over there They think they’re well hard, just like a bear. Bang, pow a shot and a punch Makes me think ‘ooh I want my lunch’ But then I remembered what happened earlier When that big bully make me look girlier Look at me now. I’m black and I’m blue. Oh no it happened to you too. See, this world is a bit of a cruel place. And sometimes that cruelness ends up on your face. I wish this world would come to peace Coz I want all that bad stuff to decrease. That was my poem I hope you like. Then one day this world will unite. Molly Terrorism happens far and wide Remember all the people that died Their families cried Feeling pain inside What can we find Where does Bin Laden hide? You told me you knew, but that was a lie. How did it happen, tell me why. But I see war Tell the world what I saw. It’s like a punch in the jaw . They’ve got no respect for the law Turn on the TV and then you will see Fights in other countries But the war is reality You think it wont happen to me But one day maybe Terrorism will stop and we will live peacefully. Alex Knife Life What’s the point in carrying a knife? You only do it to ruin your life Stabbing people one after one Thinking you’re bad or calling it fun. You walk in the kitchen and see a knife Thinking not once but then thinking twice You say you shouldn’t but do anyway ‘cause you don’t know what’s coming your way. You walk out the door, you know you’re scared Your conscience says ‘Don’t do it. It’s only a dare’ You don’t know what’ll happen in the next few days. Now put it down, turn around and live your own way. Here they come down the road, all are unknown. There’s about seven and you’re on your own You want to turn back but it’s too late now. Now they’ve started to gather round. Pushing and shoving again and again They don’t stop till he says when You pull out the knife and say it’s time This is when you notice you’re about to commit a crime. This is what happens when you have a knife Instead of taking theirs you take your own life Next time don’t think about it. You’re wasting your time. ‘cause every knife you turn away, you stop another crime. Aliyah
