KITE RUNNER Essay!
1. Choose two characters in the novel and explore their individual qualities and the dynamic of their
relationship. Choose at least three events that alter, affect, or contribute to the dynamic of their
relationship.
2. Does Amir become the son that Baba had always wanted him to be? Explore his change as a
character throughout the novel through at least three major events to argue why he does or does
not reach Baba’s expectations in the end.
3. If you have another idea for an analytical/argumentative essay, see me for approval!
Option: Creative Essay:
If you would like to write a creative piece on THE KITE RUNNER, you must do the following.
1. Write a COMPLETE outline as if you were to write your analytical/argumentative essay (you do not
actually have to write the full paper)
2. Write a 2-3 page creative piece based on THE KITE RUNNER
Ideas:
a. Write a chapter of the prequel
b. Write a chapter of the sequel
c. Write a chapter from another character’s point of view
d. See me for another idea!
You will be graded on argument analysis and organization for your outline.
You will be graded on style and convention/format for your creative piece.

Test Run: We are going to try and submit papers electronically to save paper and add comments that
you can forever save on your home computers and never lose!!! If this doesn’t work we will go back to
printed paper copies.
1. First draft is OPTIONAL: If you would like feedback, comments, or help you must submit a draft
to me by 2/27 Friday evening 11pm. I will not read drafts after that point.
