The Action Management Plans Program of 2006-08 required the use of a computer by supervisor groups to complete class activities. The goal was to introduce computers and their use in the program. In 2008-10, we introduced the memory stick. Each supervisor had to bring a laptop to class or access a workstation to participate in class activities. The innovation with this program was that supervisors brought back to their offices these memory sticks stocked with website addresses and thousands of pages of materials they could access when they needed them. We hope to close the circle with the 2010-12 continuing education program. Dividing the six (6) hour program into two (2) components provides more interaction with and among fleet administrators. The technology used to make this happen provides supervisors with flexibility in scheduling when and where they access the continuing education program. If they wish, supervisors may take the two-hour and four-hour continuing education program online on a Sunday afternoon at their cottage “up north.” Inside this circle is bundled all the resources necessary for a fleet administrator to successfully manage his/her fleet today and prepare for what will be necessary for tomorrow. 2012 Supervisors’ CEP – Part II Introduction Introduction Page vi Michigan Department of Education Prepared: 3/14/12 2012 Transportation Supervisors’ Continuing Education Program Part II – Updating, Evaluating, & Preparing Presentation and Time Schedule Time Minutes Topics 8:00 – 8:30 AM 30:00 Registration & Refreshment Segment 1 8:30 – 8:31:53 AM 8:31:53 – 9:10:53 AM 9:10:53 – 9:45:08 AM 01:53 47:00 34:15 Updating Part II Introduction & Welcome Driver Medical Self-Certification Bus Driver Medical Review Board Segment 2 9:45:08 – 9:55:10 AM 9:55:10 – 9:57:22 AM 10:02 02:12 Evaluating SE-4094 Interactive Program School Bus Fleet Performance Criteria 9:57:22 – 10:15 AM 17:00 Break Segment 3 10:15:00 – 10:33:44 AM 10:33:44 – 11:28:59 AM 11:28:59 – 11:58:33 11:58:33 AM – 12:26:10 PM 12:26:10 – 12:40:13 PM 12:40:13 – 12:41:17 18:44 55:15 29:34 27:37 14:03 01:04 Preparing School Bus Inspection Program Homeless Education Transportation Transportation Reporting School Bus Fleet Audit Program Course Summary Course Wrap-up & Evaluation Total Instructional Time 241:39 2012 Supervisors’ CEP – Part II Introduction Introduction Page vii Michigan Department of Education Prepared: 3/14/12 2012 Transportation Supervisors’ Continuing Education Program Part II: Updating, Evaluating, & Preparing Introduction I want to welcome school bus fleet administrators to Part II of the 2012 Transportation Supervisors’ Continuing Education Program (CEP). Part II is a four (4) hour segment. Completing Parts I and II will give each supervisor the required six (6) hours necessary to complete this training cycle. Part II includes three (3) segments – Updating, Evaluating, and Preparing. Each segment will include presentations by content experts, an interview with those experts and a live audience Q and A. For those supervisors taking the class on line, they will view the live audience Q and A. To the live audience, the pressure is on to ask good questions. The Part II segment has three goals. First, update legislation, materials, and questions presented during Part I. Second, discuss and present methods to evaluate school bus operation and performance. Third, provide ideas, information, and materials that will help fleet managers prepare for the 2012-13 school year. We start the Updating Segment with a briefing about two new laws that were bills when we reviewed them during Part I. The Legislature passed, House bill 4360 into Public Act 160 effective, September 30, 2011, And; Senate bill 496 into Public Act 156 effective, September 27, 2011.
