Be careful in our Winter Wonderland!
Accidents happen.
If an accident occurs while at work,
do you know what to do?
Workers’ Compensation
Workers’ Compensation is insurance paid by Clemson University to provide
benefits to its employees in case of illness or injury while working. Through this
program, workers are provided with benefits and medical care while the
employer has assurance that the employee will not sue.
Workers’ Compensation (WC) pays 100% of approved medical bills as well as
other expenses. WC compensates 66 2/3% of salary (tax-free), limited to
maximum wage set by law, if unable to work more than 7 calendar days.
WC has the right to direct the medical providers during treatment of an injured
employee. If the injured employee decides to seek medical attention on his/her
own, WC is not required to pay for that treatment. Medical treatment must be
authorized by Clemson’s insurance carrier.
Workers’ Compensation
Who is covered?
Any Clemson University employee who is on the current payroll is covered by
Clemson University’s Workers’ Compensation plan.

Workers’ Compensation / Injury Reporting
Steps to Take in Case of Injury:
1.
In case of accidental injury, it is the employee’s responsibility to notify his/her
immediate supervisor or Human Resources Manager (Kristy Snider:
656-3026) or Tammy Crane-backup (656-3021) immediately.
Any injury, no matter how slight, must be reported.
2.
The supervisor must compile the details of the injury (who? when? where?
how? what happened exactly?).
3. The supervisor then calls CompEndium (877.709.2667) to report the injury.
Workers’ Compensation / Injury Reporting
What to Expect During the Report of Injury:
•
A Medical Manager Nurse will take the call and ask specific questions about
the accident.
•
CompEndium will contact and assist the injured employee in selecting a
medical provider (usually Redfern Clinic) or will direct him/her to the nearest
Emergency Room.
•
CompEndium will notify the physician or ER of the injury and impending
arrival of the injured employee. The medical provider will contact
CompEndium before the injured employee leaves the facility to receive
authorization for treatment.
Workers’ Compensation / Injury Reporting
What to Expect After the Report of Injury:
Immediately following treatment, the Medical Manager Nurse Consultant will
contact the person who made the initial call with a report of the employee’s
condition and work status.
•
The supervisor must contact the HR Manager (Kristy Snider: 656-3026) with all
information pertaining to the injury (who? when? where did the injury occur?
location of injury on body? where treatment took place? employee’s condition?
work status/restrictions?)
•

by the medical provider
Return to Work With Restrictions
• No employee may return to work until Library Administration gives approval
• Coordinating documentation must be forwarded to supervisor so that
discussion to determine how accommodations, if possible, will occur
• A good faith effort to accommodate the employee will be planned (by
Supervisor, Dean, HR Manager, and Unit Head) before the employee’s return
to work

• Same as above

Be careful out there!
• Evaluate your work area.
• Make sure that no cords are exposed to cause trip hazards.
• Be cautious of any spills.
• Report any potential dangers to the appropriate person(s). To report

Kronos Q & A
Q:
A:
Are any improvements/changes expected?
Kronos is moving to the Cloud. Kronos is scheduled to transition
from a campus hosted server environment to servers hosted by
Kronos Cloud. During this transition, we also upgrade to the latest
release. This is currently scheduled to occur during the week of
March 9th. The plan is to bring down Kronos production early on
Monday, March 9th and it is anticipated that the system will be
down for 2 work days.
 Web users will not be able to access the system and will
need to record their time on a paper timesheet.
 Clock users will be able to use the clock, which will store
the punches and upload to the Cloud once reconnected to
servers.
A Go/No Go decision will be made on Thursday, March 5th.
Payroll will be communicating with employees in regards to
tracking time on paper.
Kronos Q & A
Q:
A:
Is there capability to use Kronos on iPads or other devices?
Yes, licenses for mobile smartphone apps are available upon special
request. Tablet licenses are not available, however, the mobile app
will work on a tablet or iPad as long as the mobile (not the tablet)
app is downloaded.
Q:
Is it possible for others, besides the supervisor, to view/approve
timecards?
When a supervisor is unavailable (out of office/vacation/illness),
Budget Center Administrators such as Kristy or Tammy, can review
and approve timecards. The Timekeeper (formerly Amber) may
also assist with this. Payroll can also step in when needed.
A:
Kronos Q & A
Q:
A:
Can supervisors enter/change a work schedule in Kronos?
Yes, supervisors can work within the Schedule Editor widget to add,
change, or delete schedule patterns as necessary (see Manager
Scheduling Guide).
Q:
A:
Can an employee run a report with leave details on demand?
Yes, employees can run a Time Detail report from within their
timecards by going to “”My Reports” and then “Time Detail”.
Then enter in the “as of date” and then click on “View Report”.
This will give a detailed report of time worked and any time off
requests using Annual, Sick, Comp, paycodes.
Kronos Q & A
Q:
A:
Q:
A:
Can more than one person view which student employees are
clocked in?
Yes, using the “Reports” widget and choosing “All” in the white box,
you may run the report, Employees Currently Earning Time (On
Premise) using the “All home and transferred in” hyperfind in your
Show as of today’s date, then choose “Run Report”, then “View
Report”. This report will show all who are clocked in. Furthermore,
you may schedule this report to be emailed to you daily at a
specific time.
How is FMLA tracked in Kronos?
It’s not. All concurrent leave (annual, sick, optional, comp) must be
entered into Kronos. Upon FMLA approval, Kristy enters the exact
duplicate of entries, as FMLA hours taken, directly into CUBS.
