Day 24: Tuesday 09/08/15
Obj: Students will know the benefits of proper nutrition – physical, social, and mental aspects.
Bell Ringer: What good/positive choices are you making in your diet? Explain in 1 paragraph.
Set: Life is what you make it? Think about this saying and explain what it means to you.
T2O: Take up/Reminders: 1. Homework: My Food Diary DUE TODAY
Essential Voc: Sedentary lifestyle; Aerobic; Anaerobic
Video: Finish - Supersize Me
Video Summary: Students will write a 2 paragraph summary of what they learned from the movie about nutrition.
Notes: Mental Disorders Foldable (Students will just make foldable and start notes tomorrow.)
Closure: Study for test! Nutrition and Physical fitness go hand in hand! They are also good ways to distress. You need to
make a more conscious effort to incorporate them into your lives.
Evidence of Learning: All students will be prepared for the test by means of review.
Day 25: Wednesday 09/09/15
Obj: Students will identify the harmful physiological and psychological effects of stress
Bell Ringer: How stressed are you? (Stress Quiz)
Set: How many of you have experienced stress? How did you cope? Today we will be discussing stress.

Video: Don’t Pop Your Cork On Monday (14 mins)
Activity: 1. During the video, students will participate in the relaxation technique of tensing muscles and then relaxing
for stress relief. If time, students will answer questions from the activity.
2. Balloon Activity – Each student will get a balloon. We will blow 1 breath for each stressor students list
until a balloon bursts. Then students will list ways to distress and for each listed, we will let a little air out
until there is no air in the balloon.

Closure: Students will answer a quiz and be asked: What are the physical and psychological effects of stress. How are you
going to deal with stress in a positive manor?
Evidence of Learning: Students will participate in several activities discussing stress and how to appropriately cope.
Day 26: Thursday 09/10/15
Obj: 1c – Describe the transmission, symptoms, treatment, and prevention of communicable, non-communicable and
std's.
Bell Ringer: What terms come to mind when you hear the terms “mentally ill”?
Set: Why do we have a stigma associated with mental disorders? I will explain my story of mental disorders.

std's.
Bell Ringer: How can we get rid of the stigma that is associated with mental disorders? Explain.
Set: What is a stigma? How do stigmas affect us?

Closure: Can you tell me why teens are susceptible to mental disorders?
