• 1886 – On May 8, John Pemberton stirs up a new beverage.
– Sold for 5 cents a glass at Jacobs’ Pharmacy
– Frank Robinson names the syrup, Coca-Cola.
• 1888 – Pemberton sells Coca-Cola to Asa Griggs Candler
– Pemberton dies before experiencing Coca-Cola’s success

1892 – The Coca-Cola Company is formed.
1893 – The Coca-Cola name is trademarked.
1894 – First syrup manufacturing plant outside of Atlanta is
opened in Dallas, TX.

• 1899 – Bottling rights are sold to two Tennessee men, and they join
another to develop the Coca-Cola bottling system.
