-When (7-13 June 2015)
-Will not take any cadet that will not adhere to standards
--- Cadets must meet all grooming standards upon departure (haircut, shave,
cosmetics, jewelry, etc)
-Depart Sunday/7 Jun/710:00 AM (subject to change)
-Return Saturday/13 Jun/8:00 PM (approx)
-Where
-Wright State University and Wright Patterson AFB
-Transportation (to and from Wright State)
- Springboro City Schools bus (paid by JROTC Funds)
-Pre-OVLS Training Schedule

27-29 May 15 (6:00 to 7:15 AM – Drill Training)
Saturday /30 May (8:00 AM to 12:00 PM)
Saturday /6 Jun (8:00 AM to 12:00 ) (Uniform drop-off)
Sunday/7 Jun (8:00 until departure for OVLS)

-Transportation during OVLS
-Provided by Wright Patterson transportation and school buses from other schools
-Lodging
-Wright State Dormitory (Gender specific floors)
-Cannot enter another floor of different gender….if caught they will be sent home
-24 Hour vigilance (found outside room after lights out—sent home) (Staff on floor)
-Will be held accountable for their room (no liquid shoe polish)
-Double rooms (roommates) --- share bathroom
-Daily Room Inspections (neatness, cleanliness, follow standards and instructions)
-Dining
-Wright Patterson AFB Dining Facility, Meals Ready to Eat (MRE), Pizza, end of school
picnic (no soda, snack food, etc --- rewards)
-Cost
-Cadet ($215.00)
-All cadets paid $50 Deposit (or more) -- balance ($165) due by 29 May 15
-Final count 7 May -- any drops after 7 May and deposit is forfeited
-Actual cost ~ $1,200+ per Cadet (Transportation, Lodging, Food, Activities, Equipment,
Rentals, Uniforms, Salaries, etc….will not find a comparable leadership school)

-Clothing/Supplies
-Issued uniforms (blues), physical fitness and OVLS clothing…everything provided
-- Initials or identifiying mark must be in each clothing item (including uniforms)
-- will wear blue/grey PT gear on departure
-ABU’s provided (purchased by Booster Club)
-- Cadet required to purchase boots, ABU accessories
-Bring one set of civilian clothes for return home
-Toiletries (makeup)
-Equipment

-Uniform Inspections, Haircut (male/female)
-Cadet Guide (Every cadet issued their own guide -- must bring to OVLS)
-Clothing List, items to bring, Required Knowledge, Drill
-Permission Slips (due 4 May 15)

-Schedule
-Controlled environment (constant supervision – over 20 instructors), Safety (number one concern)
-Homesick -- First couple of days are the toughest – (no snacks, Cell Phone, TV, Facebook)
-Some rebel so they can go home (self eliminate)….some cry before they get off the bus
-Must complete enough training to receive credit…miss too much training and you will go home
-Will be put under pressure; held responsible for actions; strict adherence to objectives/standards; mutual
respect; will not be humiliated; reminded of standards; pushed to excel (try)

-Medical Issues
-Prescription Medication (enough to cover time at camp)
Must have dispensing instructions (given at meals)
Any medication that causes physical side affects must be explained
-Over-the-counter medications
Aspirin, allergy, ointments, cold medicine, etc
-Medications that could interfere with training must be identified
-Daily Sick-Call
-Emergency Room
-Immediate contact with parent/guardian
-No over-the-county medications given without parent/guardian authority
-Going to sick-call too much will get a cadet sent home (missed training, whining, other concerns to be
considered)
--- Use of sick call or fictitious ailments to get out training will result in cadet being sent home/not allowed to participate in all activities
-Conduct
-Appropriate at all times (PDA, courtesy, conduct with other cadets/staff)
-Inappropriate and they will be sent home
-Forbidden items (contraband, iPods, cell phones) (All cell phones will be held by MSgt Thiergart)
-Communication
-Very, very limited – don’t expect calls every night – best chance Thursday)

-Physical Fitness
-Lt Col Runchey will have mandatory PT sessions before OVLS
-- May 5, 7, 12, 19, 21, 26, 28 (must attend at least 6 sessions or will not attend
-OVLS Daily (required to try)
-Physical Fitness Test (Friday)
-Long days and nights
-Graduation
-Awards (DGs, top cadet, etc)
--- Composite score based on Uniform Inspection, Room
Inspections, PT Test, Academic Test – Specifics in Cadet Guide
--- Top Cadets Recognized
-End of OVLS Picnic (No guests)
-Receive academic grade and 1 full credit for successful
completion
-Return to Springboro HS Saturday/13 Jun/approx 2000
