SLU Class Information SLU Syllabus How grades are calculated for the class Assignments Tests SLU ≠ PHS Grading scale Tests Material covered You didn’t tell us that SLU Grades Leonet Moodle Account Math XL Pearson PHS ≠ SLU Grades Students will receive a grade of A, B, C, D, F or W at the college level. All grades will become part of a student's permanent record at the college level. W (Withdrawal) Grades Letters are sent home prior to withdraw date requiring a parent signature. Does not impact a student’s GPA. Students must witness Ms. Latour withdraw them from the class. As far as a W, it carries no quality points and does not contribute to GPA. One or two W’s is not a problem and this is really dependent on what a student wants to do. If a student is going to medical/dental/preprofessional school, a W CAN cause problems. For the most part, one or two W grades will not adversely affect a student. It also has no affect on TOPS. SLU Grades vs. PHS Grades PHS grade – parent command SLU grade – Math XL, moodle account or LEONET In most cases, these grades will not be the same. The PHS grade tends to be higher because of additional assignments at the high school level. To avoid surprises it is imperative that the SLU grade is monitored through one of the above mentioned sites. SLU Transcript vs. PHS Transcript Must request transcripts directly from SLU for college level course work. http://www.southeastern.edu/future_students/dual_enrollment/assets/Transcript_Request_Form.pdf Fall 2014 Grade Distribution Class A B C D F W ENGL 101 (72) 11 (15%) 34 (47%) 20 (28%) 4 (6%) 1 (1%) 2 (3%) Math 161 (77) 19 (25%) 23 (30%) 21 (27%) 6 (8%) 2 (3%) 6 (8%) Span 101 (33) 11 (33%) 17 (51%) 5 (15%) 0% 0% 0% 13-14 Grade Distribution Class A B C D F W ENGL 102 11 (25.5%) 26 (60.5%) 6 (13.9%) 0% 0% 0% ENGL 101 (Spring) 0 4 (80%) 1 (20%) 0% 0% 0% ENGL 101 (Fall) 7 (15.5%) 33 (73.3%) 5 (11.1%) 0% 0% 0% ENGL 102 11 (25.5%) 26 (60.5%) 6 (13.9%) 0% 0% 0% HIST 101 11 (21.5%) 24 (47%) 12 (23.5%) 1 (2%) 0% 3 (6%) 12-13 Grade Distribution Class A B C D F W ENGL 101 (50) 58% 25% 6% 0% 0% 9% Math 161 (68) 25% 43% 24% 1% 9% 6% Span 101 (33) 11 (33%) 17 (51%) 5 (15%) 0% 0% 0% Engl 102 (53) 45% 47% 8% 0% 0% 0% Hist 101 (87) 30% 43% 16% 0% 0% 8% Math 162 (50) 45% 30% 16% 6% 2% 0% Math 241 (12) 42% 25% 33% 0% 0% 0% Spring 2012 Grade Distribution Class A B C D F W ENGL (84) 30% 50% 14% 0% 0% 6% Span 102 (22) 41% 36% 23% 0% 0% 0% Hist 101 (64) 9% 45% 42% 0% 0% 4% Math 162 (68) 31% 43% 16% 0% 0% 10% Math 241 (20) 50% 40% 10% 0% 0% 0% Math 241 (21) 43% 47% 10% 0% 0% 0% Gbio 151 (24) 21% 29% 50% 0% 0% 0% Hist 202 (33) 9% 33% 45% 3% 0% 3% Musc 151 (15) 60% 7% 0% 0% 0% 33% Spring 2012 Grade Distributions English (84): A=30% B=50% C=14% D=0% F=0% W=6% Gbio 151 (24): A=21% B=29% C=50% D=0% F=0% W=0% Hist 101 (64): A=9% B=45% C=42% D=0% F=0% W=4 Hist 202 (33): A=9% B=33% C=45% D=3% F=0% W=3% Math 162 (68): A=31% B=43% C=16% D=0% F=0% W=10% Math 241 CD (20): A=50% B=40% C=10% D=0% F=0% W=0% Math 241 HT (21): A=43% B=47% C=10% D=0% F=0% W=0% Music 151 (15): A=60% B=7% C=0% D=0% F=0% W=33% Span 102 (22): A=41% B=36% C=23% D=0% F=0% W=0% Make your course selection relevant!
