Who affects the development of a mental disorder? Depression, a very common mental disorder among society today, has many causes. One of these is stress.1 Stress can be influenced by many different people, such as teachers, peers, coworkers/bosses, parents, significant others, etc. Environment is a common cause of many mental disorders2, for example someone abused as a child is more likely to develop bipolar disorder.3 Abuse and trauma is also linked with diseases such as Personality disorder4, anorexia nervosa5, bulimia nervosa6 and binge-eating disorder.
