BILL VIOLA SUBMERGED SPACES VOLUNTEER INVIGILATOR APPLICATION FORM Bill Viola: http://www.nnfestival.org.uk/festival/visual_arts/submerged-spaces Bill Viola is one of the world’s most celebrated artists using video as a medium. His mesmerising installations explore such fundamental human experiences as birth, death and the unfolding of consciousness. Viola’s fascination with world cultures, philosophies and beliefs is subtly reflected in his images and his use of sound and movement. His studio is famous for the precision and attention to detail given to his work and the use of state-of-the-art technologies to create intimate encounters and total environments that envelop the viewer. He constructs complex, meditative spaces that demand interaction between the viewer and the image. Now his seminal video work comes to East Anglia for the first time in a major exhibition. Co-curated by the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and the Norfolk & Norwich Festival, Submerged-Spaces is a citywide exhibition that provides a snapshot of both his working practice and his mastery of subject matter. We are looking for committed and enthusiastic volunteers to join our team from June 26th to 29th July 2012 to help invigilate the two Bill Viola spaces in Norwich city centre.
