
Originally striking through point number two, after conversations with more people

Spoke with Ohio State University: did this bylaw change in the Spring Recruitment

Spoke with NPC Panhellenic Chairman
1. At the University of Iowa the Rho Gamma role has shifted. They’ve become councilors not administrators. We want girls that
will get stuff done, not cry to
2. Ohio State University: roughly 1300 women going through the process, 900 placed. 69 Rho Gammas and 80 women in a
group. We have 30 Rho Gammas and 30 women per group

They piloted the program of “soft” disaffiliation

“If they felt like a PNM would join a certain sorority”  absolutely not, it didn’t affect anyone really

They were still completely disaffiliated unless they were asked by a PNM what they were in

Still did a reveal

It’s a PNM’s right to know if your Rho Gamma is biased and what sorority they are in PNM’s should know where the Rho
Gammas are coming from with talking points

They still get the same disaffiliation training, the PNM would have to seek out the information the Rho Gamma would
never broadcast it

More than 1 Rho Gamma per group so there is a second person to go to per group if the PNM felt uncomfortable

Rho Gammas don’t have to say anything they are allowed to say “I’d rather not tell you”

No other Rho Gamma can reveal another’s chapter affiliation

Rho Gammas would never speak about their own sorority

Emily, Mckenzie, Brylie, Gina and Leslie are all available to speak to as well if PNMs ever felt uncomfortable

Rho Gammas do not interact with PNMs over social media
3. Recruitment is about the PNMs not the chapters, or the Rho Gammas. Its about being a Greek Woman
4. Its hard for the Council when the PNMs aren’t allowed to know what Rho Gamma affiliation is

Infraction wise would benefit chapters and council officers

Conference call with Ohio State and NPC Panhellenic’s Chairman Julie Johnson
■
Got extremely helpful notes from both calls
1. 9 campuses participated in this, 8 out of 9 had positive feedback, the 1 that didn’t was a small school with Spring
recruitment
2. Biggest negative feedback: PNMs felt that they were hurting their Rho Gamma’s feelings (combatted by putting more than 1
Rho Gamma per group)
3. Rho Gammas are administrators: pushing PNMs to realize what they already know
4. No PNM has tried to figure out the affiliation of every single Rho Gamma

We chose the girls that are good for the job, not the chapter affiliation

Bylaw Proposal Details:
Bylaw Proposal
Proposed: March 11,2015
Voted: March 25, 2015
Section 9: Recruitment Guides (Rho Gammas)
Established – March 31st, 2010
Recruitment Guides will serve as unbiased guides during all phases of Recruitment
1. A Recruitment Guide may not acknowledge herself as a member of a particular chapter during the summer and the scheduled Formal
Recruitment week.
2. Each individual chapter is responsible for covering any visible pictures of Recruitment Guides and Panhellenic Officers who are members
of their chapter. This includes but is not limited to pictures in frames, composites, recruitment videos, and those visible in rooms used for house tours.
Change:
1. A Recruitment Guide may acknowledge herself as a member of a particular chapter during the summer and the scheduled Formal
Recruitment week.
2. Each individual chapter is responsible for covering any visible pictures of Recruitment Guides and Panhellenic Officers who are members
of their chapter. This includes but is not limited to pictures in frames, composites, recruitment videos, and those visible in rooms used for house tours.
Reasoning:
NPC has been piloting this on other campuses and has found it to be very successful. It helps eliminate many of the issues Rho Gammas have
with PNMs trying to constantly guess the sorority of which they are a member. We spend a great of time educating and strategizing with Rho Gammas
on how to mask their affiliation. In our modern world, it’s not realistic to attempt to hide affiliation and the methods have become drastic and
irrational. It makes the focus of recruitment on the Rho Gamma, when it needs to be on the PNM. We have also found that Rho Gammas can be at a
disadvantage in their job search when they have so heavily masked their online identity. PHC would still spend a great deal of time working with Rho
Gammas on remaining unbiased during Spring training and Work Week.
